Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

So at what point does the coach come into it?
If by round 10 we are losing more than 50% of our games and we have players in our team playing well below their ability, questions will need to be asked.
If by round 20 we are still losing more than 50% of our games and still have players in our team playing well below their ability, it will become a problem.
Until then sit back relax, be optimistic that we have an improved playing roster that can hopefully allow us to win 50% of our games or better and be even more optimistic that if this happens we should be well placed to make another big improvement in 2026.

How was Bateman toxic?
Sure we didnt get the best out of him. That is true for most guys who have played for his club lately, including Stef.
It was the right decision to let Stef go as he wanted too much money. Bateman though? None of us know what has happened there.
Cmon Tucker...

Bateman was hammering Benji publicly.
Klemmer, from what I can tell hasn't said much and Stef/Paps have slipped a little but not a lot.

It was Bateman who always got quoted as attacking Benji.

Problem is he can’t do it all on his own , the rest need to really step up, would love to get a better backrower to help
Bingo.

Loosing Stef, Paps, Klem and Bateman and just saying we have:

May + Hunt to replace them is a joke.

Look I get it, were coming 17th and we need changes.
but those 4 players had some output and significant output at that. Loosing 2, we would be upgrading. Loosing 3 were kinda breaking even.... Loosing all 4, it's really going to weaken us for awhile and I was hoping Luai would start with success....

It also means we may panic sign, bring someone in who we may not exactly want long term just to cover the gap. Was really hoping we were past this.

My concern is that it appears Benji had a dig at the senior players that Bateman was a part of and instead taking a bit of ownership and acknowledging that he along with the other senior players needed to do more to help lift a team struggling for wins, he chucked a tantrum and made it known he was sick of the senior players being blamed.
In that situation every coach is going to be turning to and expecting more from their senior players.
When trying to get off the bottom and become more successful, we don’t need tantrum chuckers and players who don’t want to accept any extra responsibility within their own performances.

Good post .this day and age alot of people including sportsmen/women can not handle criticism of any kind .if your paid a wage and your performance is not up to scratch .u deserved to b moved on

Coaching 101, if the younger, less experienced players and those who’s talent ceiling is not as high as some of their team mates see the senior and higher profile players get berated by their coach, they are getting the message and there is no need for the coach to also berate them.
The response the coach should be getting is for the senior and higher profile players to voice their acknowledgment that they will do better to help lift and inspire the younger and less experienced players.
This is what we are hoping we will get from Jerome Luai.

Sometimes.
It really depends on the situation.
If you find yourself in a team with young blokes who haven’t earned their spot and are making big errors, it would irritate you that you are being singled out.
If you are in that situation with a coach who is out of his depth, that would likely trigger some confrontation.
We can’t comment without any context and none is being supplied.
