Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Let it be a later issue, enjoy the moments of fierce battles for that #6 jersey
100 percent great problem to have, just looking to the future, if we put 1 million into a lock we risk potentially losing a 10 year 5/8. If we lose the 5/8, I guess we could keep Galvin there, would be a bonus to have a bigger body half, might lose a touch of pace, though for a lanky kid he can motor so it prob wouldn't be an issue.

If Richo thought $700k would do it and galvin would extend for another few years he would give up a second rower and center this year and clear more dead out.

As Gould said - whoever has Lachlan galvin in their team in the future will win premierships

Signing those two positions in front of him IF he would take the money would be disastrous.

Teddy left and the chooks won 3 prems.

Richo is smarter than all of us anyway - he knows that it’s the biggest priority the club has I’m sure
Teddy left us for less money. I don’t get it. Does Galvin want to play in a winning side or not? If he does he needs better players around him.

thanks @kade7 !!!

But surely the club know he’s worth more than $300k or whatever he gets this year and next

And surely they know people are going to be offering him close to a million

So why don’t they just up his contract this year and next and pay him a million a season for 4 seasons?

For any other club to compete with that they would have to offer him like 1.7m per season for the first two seasons he is available.

No one can do that.

We have the advantage - so why doesn’t Richo just pay him more now?

What am I missing?

Like why are waiting or risking another club like roosters dogs dragons etc offering him a 10 yr deal at 1.2 that ratchets up to $1.7m
Galvins team will wait and see how he goes and how the team go , if we come out and win 7/10 games his dollars if he and Luai are going great just goes up , club probably haven’t offered him big bucks yet but I would say they have offered up an increase over this year and next to say $ 500 then the added extension of 3/4 years $.wait and see by round 10 we probably know where he goes or stay

Any update on Dave Klemmer
Is he still training with the boys , able to be selected into the first game , it’s gone very quiet and that move to Dragons I think Molo got lawyers involved now

Reality of the situation is... he will want to stay if we're winning games.
I think we would like that to be the reality.

I imagine winning games will play some part.

But the Panthers, Broncos, Storm, Roosters, Sharks....they all offer the opportunity to win as well.

I doubt he leaves the Tigers for, say, Newcastle.

But money will dictate the contract. He can win at a lot of clubs.

Galvin is here at our club on a modest contract for the next 2 years. Richardson has no doubt made this clear to his "team". His "team" do not want him on a modest contract. There should be no upgrade to his contract unless he commits to an extension. The club has gone above and beyond to strengthen its roster with Luai, Turuva, Hunt and May. I am impressed with the direction of the club.

You are missing one key point…. Galvin is well trained by his manager to “say the right things to the media”….but not follow through…. Think of Woods and Tedesco back when they left us…
We would love to get Galvin signed up long term NOW, but they are pushing back that notion …

I get it dude - I’m not an idiot lol. (All fun meant in that)

I’m simply asking kade what’s latest is

I get info from a mate who talks with galvins inner sanctum every month or so

But I wanted to hear if he was hearing what I was bc I’m not sure if I’m being fed BS either … good to fact check everything

If he was all in with his commitment to the club he would have extended by now, still can't be convinced in his own mind probably because of close influences, why throw more money at him with Nov 1 looming it would be a waste if he signs somewhere else.

He is going to get 'paid'.

It'll be more than he's worth due to what he's shown, for some people, and it will be a great deal that leads the club to success, for other people's opinion.

Unfortunately, the truth is, he'll get paid- and nobody will know if it's a good deal or not, because he's not developed enough to have deserved the money he will get.

Agreed. This all started prior to the commencement of last season. The narrative that he is waiting to see how the team performs reminds me of our club being Plan B. This narrative is offensive to the club and its supporters.

I don’t think there is any intel on Galvin apart from what we hear from his mouth….like you, I hope he signs long term, but knowing how his manager works I think WT will be strung along for most of the season

I'm outdated but I'll happily wear that tag and I am commenting based on your post. NRL players are professional sportsman, and the top players are well paid win or lose. Winning is fundamental to competitive sport however it is not always possible. All teams or individuals go onto the playing field or court to win, Adopting the position that you will stay only if your team is winning, or you want to go to a winning team is not the mindset imo of a team player. Players such as Luai, one of the biggest signings in the NRL has the confidence to come to the WTs. And what constitutes a winning team? The Roosters, Canterbury or the Panthers? What is your view on this?

you are comparing a 28 yr old Luai who has won 4 premierships in a row to a younger Tedesco who hadn’t won Jack at that time ?

Galvin has said he wants to play on a winning team … it doesn’t matter where he ends up going … he will be nicely compensated.., so I don’t blame him for also wanting to go to a successful team when probably most teams will be interested in acquiring him

Richo might know it … but it will still be up to what Galvin wants to do at the end of the day
