Remember, we are paying Bateman a huge chunk to play for Nth Qld and Bud Sullivan to play for Souths also - those commitments will be done when it's time to extend Galvin + you'd think cap has gone up by then.

Latu's contract will also be up for renewal too. We will have the money, it will just come down to our results and, as with all players, it will be up to them.

Frankly, at the end of a deal they are free to decide if they want to leave. We can't do that much about it other than what's in our control. I'll just enjoy the next 2 seasons while he is contracted to us and see where it all goes.

Franchise Players aren't just your good / great players, they're the corner post of an organisation.
We already lost one in Tedesco, I'd be betting we'll do everything we can to keep this next one.

There is a definite mindset with a franchise player that goes beyond talent.
For all his natural ability Latu came back at the preseason unfit pretty typical for a young bloke - not the case with Galvin.

Who knows with Sullivan, as isn't it only this season with Souths at this stage and still with WT through 2027?

Yes you're right. He has a deal with us for 26 and 27.

We can only hope he does well at Souths and they keep him, but he knows if he comes back, he will play reserves, so he'll be looking for a club.

That particular situation is a bit wait and see for us.

I fear Super League will be the only option if he doesn't show he can make in NRL 1st grade, this is his 3rd club now, time to really make a go of it.

Problem is you quoted only one player that has done it over a handful of games. The others were origin reps and josh reynolds. We just disagree and it's ok, but keep digging in. Up to you

- I'm surprised it seems ignored in the back and forth here.
Especially since both have a recent memory of our Coaches playing days.

There's been others, Your ignorance doesn't mean it can't and doesn't happen.
You could argue Lodge signed a big money deal at the broncos after only a handful of games.
If I could be bothered trying to put brains in statues - I'd think of more.

It also gives us 12 months to find a suitor for 26 and 27, whether that's Souths or otherwise.

I highly doubt he'll be back.
