The problem with granting him a roving commission is that he tends to overplay to the point that he has a negative impact on others. If he was constantly on the ball in the middle third, it could render both halves impotent.Penrith Panthers revolutionised the game with the ball playing of Yeo and their mobile front row.
Could we revolutionise the game by playing Galvin the way he currently plays at 5/8 but at lock.
Could he do it as a lock so we can play Latu and Luai either side and have Galvin float the field looking for opportunities, weaknesses in the defence?
He would be wasted trying to play the Yeo, straight forward, play short, play out the back. We have May and Bird for that as our middle forwards.
The point I’m making is. Could a team afford to take a lock out of their middle rotation and play him as a floating five eight / 2nd fullback.
I know for sure, if it worked there is only one player in the comp that could be effective doing it.
So why share it?![]()
Roosters set to sign Origin player as Luai and Galvin linked to rival Sydney club
It would be a hammer blow for the Wests Tigers. Read more here.au.news.yahoo.com
The bloody media have an agenda to destroy this club. The slightest thing they could possibly turn into clickbait & get unhealthy conversation going they'll use to plant seeds. I don't know who's worse, the media or the player managers like Moses.
I assume you mean straight away as you mentioned "we are going to hear about this every single day for the whole year"I know people are not going to like this, but the club need to make a call on Galvin pretty quick..
This is not going away and we are going to hear about this every single day for the whole year and that's just not fair on all the other players, the club and us fans.
People will say it's the media and not to worry about it but it's everywhere and it's just putting a downer on the game.
IMO he is nowhere near a million-dollar player and would rather lose him then pay like 1.2mil for a guy who has not proven a thing.
We let him test the market (give him a deadline of like a month) and either he extends with us or signs elsewhere.
Sure fire way to be hearing about it all yearIF he signs elsewhere like expected then we either look at a trade with that club to get something out of it or we play him in reserves and give Latu the starting 6 to see if he takes the opportunity. Not a fan of investing in a junior like him so the next team gets the rewards (different if he was a senior player that has proven himself and we didn't have a ready-made replacement).
Our season is going to derail if this is not sorted..
I was thinking not on the ball and leaving that to our two halves and more having him do a combination of taking runs / lining up as the link between fullback, centres fed from the halves not setting up the halves. The problem with granting him a roving commission is that he tends to overplay to the point that he has a negative impact on others. If he was constantly on the ball in the middle third, it could render both halves impotent.
I was trying to point out the relentless attack on WT by the media (especially the Murdoch media) as I've said before seem to have an agenda to destroy the JV. I called it clickbait because that's what it is, but it's concerning because it does sow seeds of doubt and suspicion around the club & playing group. So why share it?
Bloody ignore it!!

I’m basically saying. Galvin wants to play five eight or halfback. His body shape would be more suited to the forwards if not now, eventually. Could we keep him happy by naming him at lock and playing him as our 3rd playmaker?Really though Panthers were just copying..
Souths with Burgess and Burgess and Burgess used that highly mobile front row as a playmaking pack.
Sharks had some pounders like Gallen. But they also had Luke Lewis who was a 2RF who did play in the halves, along with Heighington and other mobile guys in the front row.
Honestly it's a good idea and one we should copy, but notice the difference?
Penrith, Souths and Sharks had big bodies play a mobile game.
With Galvin were talking someone who is fit, but not a big body like Lewis/Burgess/Yeo.
^Maybe you can credit Sheens with a bit of the above. Heighington, Ellis, Fulton, etc playing a high pass game as mobile 2RF was something he started. Really when I think about it more, Kite/Watmough at Manly seemed to perfect it better.
We. Also had buckets playing first receiver in 05 allowing prince and Marshall to play widerReally though Panthers were just copying..

A lot of suggestions of trying to make him our version of Yeoh.
He's not a good enough defender to be in the middle.
Wade Graham made a career move from 5/8 to second row- playing as a wide playmaker. No reason Galvin couldn't be that kind of player.
If someone wants to pay overs for a 6 who has just won a wooden spoon so be it.
The distraction of Moses might be doing more harm than the positives of Galvin’s on field displays.
Careful mate you are getting very close to having a whinge, but do agree looking at storm's middles compared to ours is chalk and cheese have been saying for a while now we need another big middle and 2 2RFs.What a bad take this is. Improvement would've been May & Hunt being an addition to Stef (or other NRL standard props), not a replacement. The other mids at the club are barely first grade standard and have clear weaknesses in their game.
Meanwhile Melbourne add Stef to Nelson, King, Kamikamica, Loiero, Lazurus, MacDonald, and keep all their other Grand Final team pieces intact.
The way some of you guys merely see the Stef to May/Hunt myopically as a comparison between the two is fairly sad, particularly when the squad also lost Paps and has been severely weakened in the backrow with another barely first grade career middle in Seyfarth shifted there.
But we got May 😂
Keeping Galvin doesn't fix up this shit of a roster.
Not enough pace in the outside backs for mine X maybe Taylan can help in this area, are you not happy with Benji? Our roster is better than the Dolphins, and a few other teams. Never the coach though.

Not happy with our spine RHS? Benji has the team he mostly wanted. There are no more excuses. Put it that way. Again. Love Benji. Put us on the map as I stated earlier. He manufactured a Soul in our identity. Coaching however is a different kettle of fish than playing. Wouldn't you agree? Not enough pace in the outside backs for mine X maybe Taylan can help in this area, are you not happy with Benji?
On Benji if he is as smart as people think he will learn from his mistakes quickly and adapt I will be patient and give him the season to impress. Not happy with our spine RHS?
