Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Benji's future always gets back to results...
Personally I dont applaud the way he was appointed, and having got over that Im confused by competing trends of senior players not wanting to play for him(most of whom are struggling at their new clubs btw)..and offsetting that hes a bit of a drawcard for younger players...at the moment...whilst theres hope
This year:s result will determine his future
Top 10 result he retains Galvin and attracts more to build on
Bottom 4 he loses Galvin...maybe Luai
Wooden spoon and its over
I agree that results will determine his future and the way he was apppointed was a sham; however, he is the current coach. The point I was trying to make is that that many were stating that he had no idea. Instead of looking at it pragmatically they looked at the results and came to a results based conclusion. What we are seeing over at the Riff, and at the Chooks (until last night) was experienced coaches that have been lauded for their coaching ability struggling to get lineups riddled with stars to perform when they have had a few personnel changes. All of a sudden they can't coach?

We, the royal we (Wests Tigers Forum) regularly jump to conclusions too quickly and don't bother doing any analysis to support these conclusions. I asked on many occasions for those quoting the Benji can't coach line to back up the assertions, and nothing came of it. I asked, not because I was a supporter of him, but because I am unable to get to training to see how they are preparing etc to make my own observations. What I could see, from performances on the weekends, was a team that could do well, in patches, and sometimes for an entire 80 minutes (very rare). So I wasn't sure if it was the ability of the coaching staff or the quality of the roster that was the issue.

Results will determine if Benji stays or goes, but it is clear that Benji and his coaching staff are on the right track. We are still a few roster spots short of a crack at the title - but we have definitely turned the corner as a club.

Waaaay to early to conclude Benji can coach!!Its always results /outcomes based...and we will all know a lot more in a month or two
Leading indicators (and thats all they are) are that senior international forwards wanted out in the off season..not a great sign, although none of them have exceled at their new club
Next indicator is how the younger players are developing...again its too early to form any conclusions The final indicator is whether elite young talent wants out..weve had some recent wins in Pole...but Galvin/Latu/maybe even Luai will provide a more fact based conclusion come Nov 1
.. if Benji finishes us near the bottom again it wont enhance his long term coaching prospects..nobody will back a loser

If your going off those indicators “international forwards wanted out” if Benji can coach you need to dig a little deeper and analyse on case by case basis as to why they left. Otherwise just broadly saying “international players wanted out” would mean Ivan Cleary is a terrible coach going off who they have lost. Even Bellamy has lost origin & international players. Whilst most of us would agree the jury is still out on Benji’s coaching abilities I do feel the coaching staff have improved a few players already.

Why would anyone be stupid enough to let Api go early, have the cowgirls got their head up there, do they think they are so far in front of other teams that they can expect the impossible.
Api at the moment is as good as he ever was, it would take a huge drop in form to even consider it surely now it's another BS media report He said She said crap.
Still think the way he's going could go around in 27, sure a lot feel the same.

Appreciate your confirmation Except monkeys dont gossip. No frontal cortex. But I understand how you correlate chatter with gossip. And monkeys have a strong sense of olfaction hence do not need to venture outside to smell the roses. They can stay logged on and offer the world their nebulous pearls of wisdom.
what part of their brain is sort after ? when folk skull cap them and insert a straw. Most primates i chatter with(i b guessing) have ageusia from the vast amounts of crap they shovel down their throats

Former Penrith star Taylan May has put his NRL career on hold indefinitely to fight mental health issues.

The premiership-winning centre is undergoing medical treatment in a private facility with the full support of family and friends.

May last month had charges of domestic violence dropped in court and was cleared by the NRL to resume his playing career.

He had pleaded not guilty to charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of stalking and intimidation over alleged incidents in April and May last year which led to his sacking from the Panthers.

However, his manager Ahmad Merhi, has confirmed May is now under treatment to deal with his personal issues and that football is not an immediate priority.

“He’s had some struggles he needs to deal with and he’s getting help,” Merhi said.

“Taylan is taking some time out away from the game to get himself right.

“We sat down and had a discussion about taking the right steps moving forward.”

The 23-year-old centre had previously been linked to the Wests Tigers as a replacement for Justin Olam, who has been medically retired.

He actually met with Wests Tigers chief executive Shane Richardson but the talks didn’t progress.

May’s brother Terrell joined the Wests Tigers during the off-season and has been one of premiership’s form front-rowers to an extent where he is now in contention to play for the NSW Blues in this year’s State of Origin series.

SPAT TO COST ROOSTERS YOUNG DUO

Sydney Roosters are in danger of losing two future NRL players because chairman Nick Politis refuses to deal with their agent.

Rising stars Mikey Nassar — an S.G Ball utility back, and Lachlan Metcalfe — a half in Harold Matthews, are both managed by controversial player agent Isaac Moses.

It was Moses who took Roosters superstar Joseph Suaalii to rugby union on a $5.8 million deal last year without informing Politis — or at least giving him the opportunity — to counter the rival code’s offer.

Politis now refuses to take his phone calls or text messages.

The Roosters were never going to match Suaalii’s union money but felt blindsided over the manner in which Moses kept them in the dark.

The Roosters had carefully overseen Suaalii’s development from a raw 17-year-old talent to a footballer who advanced to Origin with the NSW Blues.

We reached out to Moses but he did not return texts or calls.

Politis’ refusal to deal with the agent is understandable. In 2021 Moses was deregistered as an agent. The NRL described the breach that led to his ban as one of “great seriousness.”

He was found guilty of helping Parramatta skipper and client Tim Mannah to give evidence that was “false and intended to mislead an investigation” run by the NRL’s integrity unit into salary cap breaches.

Moses’ ban was lifted 18 months later. And it was Politis who helped him; providing a reference that significantly aided his case for reinstatement.

It’s why the Roosters’ billionaire chairman felt so betrayed.

Don't know that movie but I have a memory of a movie where they eat monkey brains with spoons in Taiwan?? I think it was. Chopped the monkeys skull off at eye level and dig in it was.
I eat most things but monkey and sheep brains, chokoes, brussels sprouts and cauliflower are dark side imo.
