OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

It is by James Hooper but this paints a slightly different picture on the playing group than what some journos want to believe. Especially if that's what Galvin said to the group. Either he gets tongue twisted with his words or is very egotistical, maybe a bit of both.

Key pars ...

The narrative about the Wests Tigers senior playing group demanding teenage five-eighth Lachlan Galvin be axed to NSW Cup is wrong.

Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall made the decision and then asked the senior players if they supported his line of thinking.

The Tigers senior players agreed with Marshall’s plan to drop Galvin back to Western Suburbs and the Wests Tigers coach ultimately made the call.

....

Given the way the Galvin story has lit up rugby league when the players rolled in for training on Tuesday Wests Tigers coach Marshall asked the local junior if he wanted to address the playing group.

There was no pressure. Galvin didn’t have to talk if he didn’t want to but given the furore that’s erupted to the teenager’s credit he said he was happy to address the group.

Galvin essentially told the Wests Tigers playing group: “You do you and I’ll do me.”

We can only imagine how this was received among the Wests Tigers players.

Think I have worked out where the little shit is off to , it’s the DOGS , Burton to fullback leaving him with the 5/8 roll , so Gus will increase his call for a mental health check for Galvin , this way he gets a release sooner
Where did you hear that ?
In my opinion Burton would be a brilliant fullback, I was hoping the Bulldogs would not be that smart.

The RLPA will meet with the Wests Tigers over their handling of Lachnlan Galvin’s decision to leave the club, after Bulldogs boss Phil Gould raised grave concerns for the 19-year-old’s mental health and welfare.
Tell the rlpa to get stuffed, ask Galvin if he feels OK mentally. If he says no send him for professional help and let him stay home till he feels better. Then bring him back. I can play that game with the rlpa aswell. If he requires 18 months of treatment for his mental health, no problem, we can pay him to recieve the help he needs.

Chammas saying Benji is at fault because he favours luai , and Galvin felt like he wasn’t the special flower anymore because he had to give way to Luai . And that he’s adopting a player culture , that is dividing the team .
He went hard at Benji , brought up klemmer and and Bateman as well (both Moses clients) saying he was off them and moved them on . lol
For me I reckon he was off them because they were Moses clients , and knew all this was about to kick off .
Hes also banished the other Nrl squad player (not Bula ) Tumeth who’s managed by Moses.

Is this really a chance to happen ? I would be so angry if my club did this to get this guy a year early …
Would need a few things to line up. Obviously salary cap pressure or a player a bit offside with his current club.

Richo will be making calls.

Tigers to blame as bullies and hypocrites pile on Galvin

The Lachie Galvin carry-on?

Friends, when it comes to hyperbolic hypocrisy, when it comes to bullying bastardry, when it comes to sheer shittiness in rugba league, I think we have a post-war record, yes? (Which is saying something.)

Tigers young gun Lachlan Galvin breaks his silence on the decision to leave the club at the end of 2026.

For those who’ve joined us late, Galvin is the 19-year-old wunderkind of the newly resuscitated Wests Tigers, a great player who’s been carving ’em up a little like Benji Marshall in his prime. He’s got verve in his swerve, Veuve in his make-up. He plays champagne rugby league that is a joy to watch!

But here’s the thing. Marshall is now Galvin’s coach, and despite the Tigers recently tabling a $5.5 million offer for five years of the young man’s services, Galvin quietly declined. He did not loudly decline. He quietly declined. All the noise since has come from Tigers management and players. It is understood that the reason for Galvin declining to sign the contract is not because he wants more money, necessarily, but because he thinks he might become a better player under another coach, and that Marshall is not necessarily his kind of coach.

Cue, the said hyperbolic hypocrisy, the bullying bastardry, the sheer shittiness led by – of all people – Jarome Luai, who went so far as to put on his Instagram account an image of god-knows-what, emblazoned with the words: “Team first.”

Sorry, what?

“Team first,” Jarome?

YOU’RE the one saying that? Is that the approach you took, when leaving the team you were born and bred to, the one that raised you as a footballer, the one writ large in your very DNA, Penrith? Or did you just observe the greatest of all rugby league traditions – the very one that the game was founded on in 1908 – to take the money and run?

Well, you’re right, you didn’t quite do that.

For in your case, you paused long enough to put a clause in your contract with the Tigers saying you reserved the right to talk to other clubs at the end of this year, and depart after the 2026 season, if you weren’t happy with the way things were going – or, clearly, if you got a better offer. Can you see much “team first” in that clause, Jarome?

You were joined by Api Koroisau, in the delegation that went to see Marshall on Monday to say you didn’t want to play with Galvin any more, and he should be dropped.

You, Api Koroisau, you? Mate, you didn’t even resist the big bucks as long as Luai did, but left the ’Riff two years ago! Who the hell are you to wring your hands and say Galvin has let the side down by choosing to do precisely what you did?

Two other Tigers players have publicly joined the carry-on, turning on their 19-year-old teammate – and the end result is that Galvin has, unbelievably, been dropped to the NRL’s version of reserve grade.

For what, exactly?

Seriously, to be a player as good as Galvin and find yourself in the NSW Cup, you’d have to think he was guilty of at least one cardinal sin – not going out drinking with the boys after the game? – if not two, but I can’t see any. I repeat: everything he did was quiet. All the noise has come from the Tigers, now leading a baying mob of NRL fans, and Galvin has merely responded to it.

And you, Benji, want to tear him a new one for chasing the money? Which one of you, or your players, hasn’t? The only one I can think of in recent times would be ... Lachie Galvin. As far as we know, money is not the driving force in this imbroglio. He simply doesn’t think Marshall is a great coach. Is this not his right?

The end result of the whole debacle is a Tigers train wreck. Bodies, everywhere. Ill will abounding all around. The Tigers were just back on track, starting to win for the first time in yonks. And now this. Through gross mismanagement, what should have been a minor affair has blown up, de luxe, resulting in one of their star players being sidelined and vilified by all and sundry. Seriously, the online hate against him is extraordinary. (Not quite as bad as the hate your humble correspondent gets when I opine that COVID vaccinations were a good thing that saved millions of people, but close.)

And he’s 19!

Get in the bin, the lot of you hypocrites and bullying bastards.

Oh, and if you’d like to discuss it, I’ll either be in my trailer, or hiding behind JT on the sidelines.
what an eff wit - thank you for posting it here - I got a headache reading it - I shouldn't have read it my bad.

I reckon this is easy enough to hose down for now.

Benji comes out and says "we have a club-first culture and unfortunately Lachie's decision is not in line with those values. We don't hold any ill-will towards him, but we need to select players who put the club first and who will contribute to long-term club success. Adam Doueihi is off contract and we want to see what else he can contribute to the side given his good form at centre. If Lachie performs well in reserve grade he will also be given full opportunity to regain his spot in the first grade side."

As to all the other stuff, I can understand the backlash is going to be hard on Galvin mentally and he doesn't really deserve excessive heat. But you'd be a fool not to realise that Tigers fans in particular are long-suffering and we've seen this exact story play out several times before, so Tigers fans are extra sensitive to it, particularly given the optimistic start to the season.

Peter Fitz posted a bit of a snowflake opinion piece above that it's hypocritical for other players, who made decisions based on their own self-interest and money, to turn on Galvin. I don't think it's quite that straightforward, but also most of these are private comments that are being made public - nobody has officially confirmed that Api and Luai went to Benji and said "we can't play with Lachie any more", nor is it official that TDM howled Galvin down at the team meeting - that's all behind closed doors stuff. Officially the Tigers have not made any more comments since the press release.

The backlash would tell you however that Galvin himself isn't being well advised by his manager and/or his parents are naive about it. He's within his rights to decline a contract, but especially under Richo they need to anticipate that Tigers would draw a firm line on this and the fans would turn on the player for certain.

I don't see what other option Tigers Management have either, these contract situations have plagued Tigers for a decade and unfortunately if an example is made out of Galvin, so be it. Can't be a doormat club any longer if you want to climb back to finals footy on a regular basis.

The inner circle of Galvin has got their wish this has become a total media cluster to which we are painted as the bad people fully of bully boys. The narrative that one-sided journo hacks forgot this mess was driven by his agent and parents and if they wish to have leave the club that is fine but why tell fans they are staying. The agent for Galvin has a deal/plan in place and knew this would play out this way.

Wdym? 2024 off season they both did
Yea, DCE apparently asked Manly for a release...

Galvin though, cmon... that screamed Issac Moses just making normal contract trouble. "hey were asking for a release so we can go around and get a +50k offer and have you come back and give another +50k then sign for Easts for unders"

Get rid of all IM players!

Apparently the “Benji can’t coach “ thing is coming from Luke Vella . Assistant at the dogs .
soo yea . Also it’s coming from Wayne Lambkin (former NSW cup coach here lol) and the Manly recruitment manager who was also at westfields.
Some historic level white anting out of wests fields.

Unless a good trade of players can be achieved, you bury him in KOE & forget.

It's best for Galvin, to start with. Takes heat & pressure off him.

It's best for the team. If a player goes down injured- you don't spend every interview from that point forward talking about how badly you miss that player. You get up & move on. Winning the next few weeks will help.

It's best for Benji & Richo. Focus on new players like Latu, remove the distraction, turn the media focus to on field results.

There are only 2 ways this goes badly now- you let the media circus continue (controllable) or performance on the field suffers.

The team has made a stand. Now they REALLY have to make a stand & perform.

Otherwise the narrative will change.

Chammas is butt hurt because Benji doesn’t answer his calls anymore . So he’s been looking to stick the boot in for a while .
Moses stooges Riccio and Reed , are just towing the party line … and Fitzwho ? Didn’t his wife just get done for some dodgy shit st channel 10 ? Hardly the paradigm of virtue ….

I think that was Moses plan...but it hasnt quite worked out the way he wanted.
Galvin will be paid around $1mill next year with the club hes already (illegally) signed to...vs the $300k with his contract with WTs..thats the core issue
so with all the agitation and friction generated by Moses,I think Richo will hold firm and wait for his new team to pay a significant transfer fee for an early release
Gotta accept hes gone, and optimise our position from here (which has significant leverage btw)
Having accepted the inevitable, WE are in the box seat for future negotiations..not Moses
