LIVE GAME Round 13 v Cowboys

Live Game Discussion
Maybe there was a warning pre game?
That happens a lot.
Sure maybe there was
But that's guess work
I'm going off what I saw vs what I usually see in other games
when have you EVER seen a sin bin in the opening 10 mins of a game for back to back penalties, when you haven't seen the ref give the captain a warning?

I think they are both on about $400k a year …
It’s hard to get your head around , and not say “that’s a rip off” but that’s just above league average as the salary cap starts to push 12 mil . I think that’s about right . If you’ve got 8-10 guys on 400k that’s 1/3 of your roster taking up 1/3 of your cap .
It’s just man it wasn’t that long ago the cap was 8-9mil. So it feels like a lot when it’s probably not.

The AD one I can live with. I thought the 6 agains one was unusual because it was so early. Normally repeated infringements are after it’s happened quite a bit. That was all in one set and felt like he made up a rule on the run too. Mandatory sin bin if it happens 3 times in one set. Did anyone here know that?
No, but what does the ref do for repeated infringements, warning, penalty, maybe. I see your point but it was still dumb play, especially from a guy who should know better.
They tested the ref and he slapped our face.
And we lost !

I have never discussed my playing career with anyone here so stop making shit up …

My coaching instructions would be unless the game is in the balance, do not give the referee any opportunity to put you in the sinbin …particularly through giving away repeated infringements…. Concede the try if you have to …. That’s only 6 points … not 14
Well the way I've seen teams do it in recent times is to give away the penalties and cop the 2 points...

Which is why I'm asking ppl when was this 3 back to back mandatory sin bin rule introduced?

And why wasn't Luai given a warning?

And has there ever been a sin bin for back to back penalties without warning in the first 10 minutes, ever? The number would be incredibly low

I live in reality not a fantasy world.

How many do you think a club can realisticslly recruit in one off season, considering we won the spoon the previous 3 season?
I would have started with a first grade coach to start with after 3 spoons.

I can live with the amount…and their place in the squad ….like I said though,,,I would like to see them as depth guys and not picked every week,,,would mean the squad is better

is it a requirement that a warning needs to be given before a player is sinbinned for repeated infringements?

I am unaware of the history of the “mandatory “ sinbinning as articulated by the referee tonight …I did here another referee refer to it earlier this year

Great fightback
Cows got the calls their way
4 of their 6 tries while we had 12
All 5 of our tries were against 13
I thought Nanai try in 1st set 2nd half was because another cow took out Turuva total BS
Refs always rob us in Townsville
And over ruled the on field decision for the Nanai try?

Not sure, is it?

Ive never seen anyone sent to the bin for back to back penalties in the first ten mins of a game...

And usually the ref gives warnings.

That's what I'm basing this on

Why are the tigers always the anomaly?

More wins than last year and we still have half the number of games to go..

Rome wasn't built in a day
Again the culture of this club is always to settle for mediocre improvement after 3 spoons.
Look at the Dogs, spoon in 2021 then top 8 in 24 and lead comp in 25. Agressive recruitment starting at the top-Gould ,Ciraldo. What do we do, apprentice coach Marshall.

Are they? Do you watch other teams as closely as you watch ours?

We need to know what the rule is …seems we both aren’t sure… I would suspect it’s within the referees authority to act in this manner without necessarily providing a warning …although I see your point that some will consider it to be harsh

No, and we usually get the rough end of the pineapple, but we should be organised and not continually offend. Most teams cope with the 6 again call by either repelling the opposition or conceding a try. We just kept doing it over and over.
And we lost, but good teams usually find a way to win. We played some good touch footy when the shackles were off.
Much better, so do we start that way next week, running the ball from the kick off, or do we go back to structured footy, which were pretty rubbish at.
