I think the entrance of Perth into the player market will be a huge disruption and make competition even harder for player signatures. I suspect many will hold off until end of next season to decide options, so in some way players free end of this season and unsigned for 2026 may be easier to get. As you say I'd like to keep Toa too, but unless we can get him to extend before November, I think he may well go elsewhere.

Perth can start signing off contract players for 2027 from November this year ..,so Toa can sign with them then …

They will have some money to throw around initially …

I kinda expect Toa to re-sign here … the club has been pretty patient with him over years of injuries and poor form …There should be plenty of howls of anger here if he brushes them

benji has persisted with him even when us fans were questionable of star , through lack of consistency/injuries
if we lose him the year he has his best year that’ll be a joke .

If this happens it does sort of play into the theory of players , whether from our juniors or cast offs from elsewhere, using the club as a shop window for their wares and going somewhere better as soon as they can. A not very survivable climate for our club to be in if that is the case for many. Lord forbid, but it would get to stage to have a psych session to judge whether the player buys into the club or just wants to use us to go elsewhere before we sign them up.

What do you do though man ? They should have won every one of the last 4 matches . In fact probably 7 or 8 of all our losses . The team is a good footy team . They just don’t know how to win … it’s beyond frustrating to watch …

The expectation from the fan base is so Low round here.

I don't know how many times I've seen it stated that
'Well, We've won more games than last year' Like it's something to brag about, I don't get it?

We bought in 4-6 Players from top 4 sides - That's a decent chunk of an NRL side.
We didn't go through what we've been through - And import who we've imported
'Just' to win a couple more games than last year....
We bought them here to challenge for the comp.

Especially this year, Penrith were looking at the spoon this time last month - Now they're in the 8

We've spent half of the season in heated debate over weather we'll let our best young talent go,
For what? Roster spots (To fill with no one) Cap relief
(That we only ever use to pay players to play somewhere else)
There's folks in the organisation higher than you or I grabbing at anything to try save face,
Is it really that different.

I don't suspect we'll challenge for the 8 this year,
And when we don't - Some real questions regarding this 'new' direction need to be not asked
- but answered.

There's lots of talk, It needs to get to the Park....

At their best I rate both above Starford

Mariner is a very good young centre and I hope we are chasing him. With Starford fingers crossed we can retain him but with the expansion teams inflating the market it is difficult. May was a fine player at the Panthers so let's hope he can recapture his form.

There's like 7 hookers named on benches this weekend. Plus there is another 5 specialist (but not particularly good) halves named on benches that will probably be interchanged through dummy half assuming no injuries.

With the make up of our roster we need a 14th at can cover multiple positions. By playing a specialist no9 as our 14 we are taking a massive gamble that no back is forced out of the game. That is why Mason has the potential to be a very effective no14. Although at present we need to select our best 17 players and TDS is certainly in the 17, so he should get the 14 role at present

I have tipped him to go to Manly … I know they are keen

Manly have tabled a 3 year deal for TDS.....he doesnt want to leave Sydney......Its Manly or the Eels....or GUS 🙂
