Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Yeah I’ve seen that now. What another load of Tigers penalty only BS. If that’s Cam smith he gets a fkn penalty, the try would’ve been disallowed and his wife would’ve received another diamond ring bcoz the ref got in his way.

Edit: I couldn’t hate the fkn NRL more even if they kick my dog.
You realise Dylan Brown also got suspended right?

Yeah I asked questions about this as well and others here pointed me to the fact that other players have been suspended for the same ‘crime’ this season, most notably Dylan Brown recently.

I think being suspended is a harsh penalty for what is more often than not an accident though. The bloody refs do get in the way sometimes and a player moving fast in the heat of the moment is going to do whatever he can to prevent a try being scored, he’s not really looking at anything other than the bloke with the ball. A fairer penalty, if there has to be one, would be a fine. They fine players all the time for much worse indiscretions, why not this one?
Yeah agreed a fine would have been sufficient but what was he expected to do?

It’s like guys getting in trouble for a shoulder charge when they’re trying to prevent a try in the corner.

Your priority is getting to the ball to stop the opposition scoring.

NRL needs to have a bit of leeway.

The game has gone to hell over the past 5 years imo. Honestly I think we need Gould to run it. And I can't stand the worm. But he knows what he's doing. Still can't believe we could have had him if we're willing to pay him 1 dollar more than our highest paid player. Turns out we refused. Another amazing decision by the old board.

I don’t get the outrage over this.
Mase clearly pushed the ref in the back.
Big no no with precedent for punishment.
When it happened live plenty on here said he’d be in trouble.
Now I keep reading it’s a conspiracy?
It's a poor decision.

In that context, Mason as the fullback is the main player responsible for cleaning up that ball. As he attempts to move towards the ball, Sutton moves across his line as Mason is moving, he then braces for contact.

The whole 'what was he supposed to do' line gets trotted out often, but here, it's appropriate.

We can't have referees getting in the way, then blaming players for accidental contact with them.

There's no conspiracy, that's ridiculous, but the current way they judge these incidents is a joke.

What's Mason supposed to do Tucker. Everyone knows you don't touch the ref's, the guys trying to run across to get to a ball in the in goal. There has to be some common sense applied by the game, they should look at the circumstances around why it happened.
Why is it incumbent on the player to not touch the ref, yet not incumbent on the ref to have game and field positional awareness.

This one was more intentional.
Look at it from the angle below:

Interesting Vatano is an option. Is this future proofing if we loose Bula? Or just depth?

We know KPP is coming so maybe it is an option. Knights have Ponga & Sharpe as fullback options. Dylan Brown going there so maybe Votano is the link to the 3 way trade.

The more I digest Fridays game I think Sexton isn't the worst option for what we need & to what's on the market. I agree with most & see Latu & Luai as look term halves but right now we need a ball playing 13 & a 14. Mason isn't there yet.

Personally I'd be signing Sexton now on a 2.5 year deal.

1. Bula/Votano*
2. Turuva/L Luailli
3. Toa/Bird
4. Ta May/Makasini
5. Skelton/Tui'itupou*
6. Luai/Mason
7. Sexton*/Falls*
8. Te May/Hunt
9. Korosaui/Hope*
10. Pole/K Luailli
11. Sa Fainu/Sukkar
12. Pearce-Paul/Saukuru
13. Twal/Murray*
14. La Fainu/Mapalangi*
15. Si Fainu/Broederlow
16. Seyfarth/Rahme*
17. Doueihi*/Taateo*

Plenty of rosters still open for 2026.

*Proposed signings for 2026 onwards NRL/Development/Train & Trial

Noting Da Silva & Sullivan still officially on the books for 2026.

Obviously need Hooker & Middle Depth...

Read the article I posted above.
Garry Jack explains it perfectly.

Junior Tupou was no big loss. He was terrible for the Phins.
I think it’s a smart signing by the Roosters and a smart move by Junior Tupou,
He won’t be a starter in their NRL team when they are at full strength this season or in 2026, but the long term plan is obviously for him to take the position of Daniel Tupou from 2027 onwards if his for warrants it.

also depends how much roosters got him for, he was on a big wicket at the phins.
