It's a poor decision.
In that context, Mason as the fullback is the main player responsible for cleaning up that ball. As he attempts to move towards the ball, Sutton moves across his line as Mason is moving, he then braces for contact.
The whole 'what was he supposed to do' line gets trotted out often, but here, it's appropriate.
We can't have referees getting in the way, then blaming players for accidental contact with them.
There's no conspiracy, that's ridiculous, but the current way they judge these incidents is a joke.
