Not a long kicking game.
Mick Ennis on the commentary stated how much more distance Douehi was getting once he moved into the halves.
Maybe he can, I hope he can, time will tell.I mean..weren’t you saying 2 weeks back he had “no” kicking game ?
He is just turned 20…it can improve further no doubt
If we don't get a forward pack to match the other sides, it won't matter who we have in the halves.Maybe he can, I hope he can, time will tell.
All I’m saying is if we don’t have a back up plan for 2026 in case Latu doesn’t work out in the halves, then it would likely be yet another season down the drain.
The safe option is to ensure we have another quality halve on our books just in case.
How would he feel about us though? We have the cash for him and Kikau as is being floatedHow would you feel about Sandon Smith?
Do you think it’s the middle forwards or the edge forwards letting us down ?If we don't get a forward pack to match the other sides, it won't matter who we have in the halves.
Did you watch Sam F on the edge last season? He won the club player of the year … and now everyone wants to move himDo you think it’s the middle forwards or the edge forwards letting us down ?
My theory is it’s more our edge forwards letting us down and it doesn’t seem to matter who we select to play there.
They are all doing their best, but lack the speed and athleticism to be quality edge forwards.
I know our starting middles got outplayed on Friday night, but I thought we held our own if not got slightly ahead once our replacement middles come on and Pole’s 2nd stint was much better than his first.
Yes.Kikau on 800k next year, final year of his deal...hmmm you would do it
It's not that I think people don't like what Samuela can do.Did you watch Sam F on the edge last season? He won the club player of the year … and now everyone wants to move him
If the Kikau rumour gets legs- fantastic.
It's not that I think people don't like what Samuela can do.
I totally believe that he is a destructive runner that doesn't see the ball enough.
More to the point- I don't think our middle forwards get enough momentum.
It's not a case of not liking what Sam Fainu does. It's more a case of getting the best mix on the field. May, Sione & Samuela taking those middle runs, with Kikau & KPP hitting the outside lanes....
Odessa posted a rumour he had heard. He's been pretty good with what he's come up with, so it may have legs.Where's this kikau talk come from all of a sudden?? Or is it just wishful thinking??
Some people run at a wall & get demolished. On what I saw last season …seems a waste to me just running him into a wall all game in the middle …he is still so young and will improve further … he will play Origin at the position I predict
Do you think Samuela on current form on our left edge and KPP on our right edge will send shivers down the spines of opposing defences, worried about how they are going to defend them ?Did you watch Sam F on the edge last season? He won the club player of the year … and now everyone wants to move him
When John Lang signed Joel Clinton and Trent Waterhouse, neither had played junior rep football but he knew what value big athletes were. He said at the time " you can teach them to pass, you can teach them to tackle, but you can't teach them to be 6'5" Both ended up playing for Australia.I'd like to se a number...3...4 maybe...of bigger athletes added. I'm not saying they all have to be Top squad guarantees, but I'd like to see our KOE squad manned with 3 things:
The best juniors we have developed needing polish before 1st grade.
Some players of NRL quality to filter into the Top 17 as required.
Bigger, faster athletes needing development- these can be cast-offs of other clubs.
Zyon Maiu'u & Lazerus Vaalepu are examples of what I want in our KOE- if they get brought up to NRL for whatever reason, they are physically superior. Isreal Leota is a big athlete in the backs, Sloan is exceptionally quick...they add that physical ability that can mask some skill issues.
You also want those skillful guys coming on...but we need to stop getting bullied on the field.
If the Kikau rumour gets legs- fantastic. I've suggested how much I'd like Fifita. Jason Saab (Tartak client) is another I'd like added if we could. They all add something aside from skill- physical domination.
What was it Gould used to like saying? A good big man will often beat a good small man? I'm all for developing your Kit & Luke Lualili'i types etc. But, the club needs to target physical characteristics as well.
