Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The one around his back to put Ayshford in the corner against Parra in 09 at the SFS was better.
Disagree. I bet everyone has gotten more entertainment from the GF winning flick pass. 🤷‍♂️

I’ve watched that one twice as often as the 09 one.

30th June has come and gone. Nothing fell out of the trees and a couple of trees got cut down. For about the 15th year in a row we are wiping the current season and focusing on the rebuild for next year, hoping it may bear fruit.

Every year I get frustrated at this time of the year as exactly the same thing happens as the years gone by for exactly the same reason. You can set your watch by it, the mid season grind starts to hit and we hit the wall with a massive crash. Our good players start to go backwards and our average players take the word plod to another level.

My love of the club will always be there but my interest has never been this tested. Sorry for the rant
We just keep shooting ourselves in the foot evey time we make a step forward..ridiculously dumb decisions that no other team wld ever contemplate in a zillion years

That’s because of the occasion. From a pure skill level, the 09 try shits all over the famous flick pass. He doesn’t even slow down. Full speed, arm around his back, into Ayshford’s bread basket.

Why’s everyone dancing around it. The problem is Benji.
Ya'know... I kind of see it this way now.

Just been thinking about how it has gone so tragically - and as I've said plenty of times before, I want Benji to succeed so bad, which is why I think my want for that fairytale ending for him and the club is clouding my judgement.

A part of me thinks he should have more time, our depth sucks, our squad is not quite there yet etc - but realistically, a team with Api, Luai, May, Pole (start of season form), Turuva and Bula should be doing a lot better regardless of who they are surrounded by.

It's a mute point though anyway, Richo says he's here to stay.

Out of curiosity. Say we were playing just as poorly perceived in attack but we actually got over the line against the Warriors and Rabbitohs at home. Would put us on 18 points and within a ‘hope’ of challenging for the finals but we had still suffered the last 4 defeats.
Would you and anyone else for that matter feel better about our season?

Right now Yeah I would …because they would likely still be trying this year ,,,

But that didn’t happen…so they gave up and here we are

I think you are right. I want to see him succeed. It’s the heart and the head thing. My heart wants him to, but my head knows he won’t. I think that’s the problem with people who are backing him. They love him so much, they have convinced themselves that he’s the man, Their heart is overruling their head.

Yeah it’s probably technically the best flick pass ever. I just thought a friendly debate about the great Benji as a player would be a nice change from the path we’re all starting to go down, when do we sack him, especially if we keep losing games.
So, I reckon the 05 GF one for mine as I watch footballers for entertainment, so I factor that in highly, but I must say against pawa is always good.
When I was doing chemo, you have to sit there for 6 freaking hours, Benji replays were my go to. He was very entertaining.

We're in the 4th year of the coach putting this squad together.
Look at what Ryles has done in 1.

Harsh
- But that's the facts of it - There's no one here (Or gone) our coach didn't have say over.

There’s no evidence they have given up. With our top 17 we almost beat the Premiers and the team coming first. This last game we had the advantage in the forward pack but playing off the back of that was our most inexperienced spine combo since maybe 2014.
Next game will be hard but I’d expect to see much a better showing with an extra week.

Absolutely shocking decision. Benji and Richo are deluded if they think we are winning the comp this year or next. The 'win now line' is a shocker. By the time the squad is ready to compete, Api will be 35+ or retired.
The club can't win though.

'we want to win now'

- 'can't believe you'd let the kids go'
- 'what about future-proofing the club'
- 'Pathways club - pfft!'

'we're placing our trust on our juniors for the future'

- 'every year we hear this....'
- 'stuff that, we want to win NOW'
- 'BE PATIENT?! 14 years not enough?!?'

This fan base is fractured, damaged and fragile. All we want is some mild, sustained success.

So it doesn't matter whether we prioritise one of the best current hookers in hhe league, our captain and one of two spiritual leaders or if we prioritise the apparent next big thing.

There will be people losing their shit about anything and everything until we start winning games.

(Sidebar - for the record, I think it's ridiculous that Richo released someone early based on 'doing the right thing'. His job as CEO is to improve the Wests Tigers football club; releasing Tallyn makes us instantly worse and he should be held to account on that decision.

This is not the National Good Bloke League).

Our biggest problem I believe is the support and resources Benji has in his stable. Employing his mates as assistants is simply not good enough. We need experienced assistant coaches.

Benji can clearly get the boys motivated, is charasmatic and has some pull in the player market.

This is the one area of the Galvin saga that I could see from Galvin's point. The coaching staff is sub par, and as a young up and coming player, you want to be coached by the best with good resources.

They have given up mate … they made no June 30 moves and let a player leave the rest of this year without replacing him…

We have seen this before , so we shouid know what it looks like

And it use to be Maguire - surrounded by assistants that are no threat him, too intense, can't attract players, past it, Madge ball, - and my personal favourite - can only coach stacked teams. If you think any one individual is the problem, then expect the pile on to continue - only the names will keep changing.

then after he left we heard for years he’s a good coach just didn’t have the cattle. now has the most talented roster in the competition and isn’t exactly setting the world on fire.

There's no coach out there who will change the trajectory of what's happening with the Tigers now.
