Tallyn Da Silva #270

Did you not see his presser the day he was appointed? He scoffed off that this club was in a terrible position.
I did. He compared us to his revival of clubs who had the wolves at the door. He praised HBG as a supporter of the club -who had just hired him - and before he’d gone over Pascoe’s books- probably something that should be considered.

He has said the same several times since .. not just on that first day ..that the rebuild would be “easy”

The culture of biding your time and putting the team first.

He clearly doesn't want to put the team first, he puts himself first. He wants a big deal and he wants to play first grade. He's clearly not ready for first grade week in and out.

We have one of the best rakes in the comp, nobody can argue against it, and Api throws himself 100% into everything. His behaviour and his actions and his words are all modest and club-first. Api is a leader and he's done it all - rep footy, premierships at multiple clubs.

TDS doesn't want to continue to develop behind Api. That is a selfish move. I understand why he wants to do it, but like Galvin that is all "personal brand" first. TDS has not achieved anything, he's the backup hooker at the 3 x wooden spoon club.

I'm not saying TDS is a bad person, but Tigers are desperate for a few years where the players focus more on coherent football and gradual improvement than their personal metrics and personal branding. The issue with trying to retain all these juniors is some of them get huge ideas because they dominated the local comp, then they get highly impatient. We gave Galvin an early opportunity, earlier than other clubs would have given, and he's used that to agitate to move to a better-performing club. TDS has now done the same thing - been given some decent opportunities, played OK, then leveraged that to a big deal with a desperate Sydney club.

Those mentalities will not help us improve over time. I have much more respect for the guys like Api, Turuva, Luai who don't talk themselves up, don't cause trouble and dissent within the club because of their personal ambitions, go out there and give 100% every week and bleed for the club. That's the right way to build.
Look I see what you are saying but none of that is a good enough reason to weaken the squad immediately, maybe before the next preseason starts? But not right now, for nothing in return.

We (should) be in a fight for our lives to avoid the spoon this year. Tallan is a first grader - something I don't think the current squad has the luxury of simply letting go. This is why most fans cannot get their heads around it, maybe we are all silly and it will be a masterstroke in the master plan.

I think Latu is a great prospect but come on.

There's a reason why we offered Galvin 6 million over 5 years and he was the one starting in the halves.
There are also reasons that a bunch of other clubs were wanting Tallyn.

Sadly, I expect that these pages will have many of those currently cheering on his release and the extension of Api, instead lamenting just that in 2027 or even prior.
