It’s interesting that this member has put forward an opinion and copped shit for it rather than people discuss the point and provide sound counter arguments.
His point has merit.

The key point I am trying to get at is not that we should run in the red and be broke it is that Richo trying to claim mild profit as a win is desperate reaching of a man trying to do damage control.

What has that got to do with the ability of our team? I couldn't give a rats what Richo claims in his financial reports - that is the responsibility of the boad and the owners. I took form it that Richo was explaining where the clib had been and what was required to turn it around in chronological order. That aligns with the timelien we are seeing for turning the joint around on the paddock. Too many of what I have done as opposed to where the club is going on the paddock for me. However, it has provided backgound and given an insight into the performace timeline - aiming for Top 8 in 26.

I appreciate the optimism, truly. I understand. But it takes investment to build something. If the board has the wooden spooner's CEO in the mindset that profit is paramount it implies they are keep tight purse strings which is not conducive to growing anything. You can't grow plants in sand.

I would prefer the HBG let the club run at a loss if it meant investing in better coaching, development, systems, equipment... they will make more money in the long run with a successful club anyway.

If we are running at a profit it isn't because revenue is high either because we know that it isn't based on recent reports. They shouldn't care about profit. Richo shouldn't either. And frankly I don’t believe he does which is why I am taking it as the spin that it is.

Mate come on...LO hasnt sold out since before covid...we got more at parra v penrith than.we have anywhere i think.since.before 2020
I guess they can charge the corps more and cater for many many more
I may be wrong but I do believe it has. Happy to be proven wrong if so.

What you are saying is 100% correct - we should be investing in coach development, pathways and systems. What is stopping HBG investing? What instructions and guidelines have been provided by HBG to the WT Board. We will never know so we have to live with the info we do get.

It has been too slow for mine but heading in the right direction. We need systems, we need mentorship and we need fully funded programmes. None of those are there at the moment. Why? I'm sure funding is one issue. Based on the limited exposure I have had to Richo he is very much like Gould. He will talking up how hard it is and how the finances have to be there before making change in order to distract you from something else - the under-performance of the football department perhaps.

Sure.

Most can see improvement, thats a majority argument, based on what they want to do and say, but I prefer to take a more critical approach.

I can’t accept that everything Benji and Richo do is totally good or totally bad from my perspective and I’m expressing that.

As a membership and as fans, we are virtually powerless in this organisation except for voicing concerns.

“Trust me” is a poor guarantee of any success. It’s a throw away line.

Thanks.
All good. I was dead against Benji being appointed but I believe he has instilled pride. Tactically the jury's still out but let's see if that works out. Richo has a good track record and is certainly a step in the right direction over most past administrator's.

Surely financial improvement has some relationship to on field success dosnt it? Whilst not direct, it allows for better facilities, resources, coaching, sponsorship, all of which add to attract players and improve current players.
Thats what i wouldve thought as a financial layperson

They owners need to spend more money for sure ..like the Dogs and Penrith do…

Are they going to ?

Probably not…

Will they sell the team ?

Probably not
At least they put proper governance in place at the club. The Roosters rivers of money don’t flow through a leagues club (pokies and schnitzels), they come from big business. Roosters leagues club boast that they haven’t needed to contribute to football in 6 years. Hopefully having a proper board and CEO will see us become more business oriented and more competitive over time.

Depends what percentage of that success is reinvested to improve these facilities as opposed to rival clubs.
Do the owners pocket it all?
