Jahream Bula #269

How about you take a poll?

Your 2-point ranking scale for Bula of "average" or "superstar" is beyond laughable - & your understanding of the fullback market is rudimentary at best!

Jahream has been a blessing to this squad since his debut!

And while he is still a rough diamond in some aspects - he is evidently better-rounded and more valuable than some of the more fancied fullbacks in the competition to anyone with a clue!

You're a sad case for attacking a humble young bloke who has repaid all the faith the club has put in him since signing him on a train & trial - and playing with/coming back from major shoulder surgery!

He is happy and content at the club & knows he is appreciated (regardless of his new manager who is not directly Isaac Moses - it is one of his Cove Agency employees)!

The club (and all quality football analysts) highly rate him & know his ceiling is enormous - so he won't be going anywhere soon!

You're butthurt that Galvin supposedly left for a "better system" and has shat the bed & destroyed team cohesion in a previously winning team- we get it!!

You shat on Turuva's defence recently - but now back to Bula because of a bullshit news opinion piece!

Attend a game and meet Jahream personally before shitting on him online again!
How good is To'a with Tito outside him and vice versa? Just wait until Bula gets to play a few games with Latu at 7. I can't wait to see him burn through a few gaps for the first time in his career and finally get to show his obvious class.

I would only be too happy to see that happen, someone's got to light a fire under Bula's arse sometime and I hope that it's soon.

I must seriously be watching a different sport because I can't understand how people don't rate Bula. It's actually insanity.

He's been virtually in our top three players every week this season yet there were people on this forum claiming Heath Mason would be a better fullback option.

I can only conclude anyone who thinks Bula is average or not good enough is simply on drugs.

Thank god for that.
So we will give him his 900k and we can expect Wests Tigers will make the top 4 in 2026.
I’m holding you accountable when it doesn’t happen.
The 900K option is only from 2027 - how many times do you need to be told FFS!!!

FACTS!!!

Bula is not threatening to leave or seeking early re-negotiation - and his new agency has zero sway or legal rights to act outsider of their clients extant contract.

Please piss off to the Bulldogs forum where your heart is at!

Have you been living under a rock or do you not know how your mate Isaac Moses operates by now ?

Nothing wrong with drugs, I think I'll take a BEX and have a nice lie down, I'm done for the night.

I can only conclude that anyone who truly believes Bula is in the same class and commands a similar contract value to the games elite fullbacks is deluded.

So you are acknowledging Bula is currently no superstar and currently not worth 900k but you think we should pay it in hope he gets there by 2027 ?
The writing is on the wall, we will give in and pay him 900k, I wouldn’t be surprised if Isaac demands we renegotiate and pay him 900k from 2026 onwards and we agree to it.
That would mean we virtually have no money left in our salary cap other than to retain what we have and maybe add a couple of lower tier top 30 players.
If you think our current roster plus the addition of KPP and a couple of depth players is good enough to see us be be a definition 8 and possible top 4 team than so be it, I cannot see how that will be good enough, time will tell.

Talk about panic stations over Bula

I didn’t say pay him, I said we have time to make the decision. I agree re his value at the moment but I do think he is improving and he is more valuable / more upside than some of the names you have mentioned as an alternative.

I believe he will get paid regardless be it by us or another club. You don’t so be it.

We have a heap of cash & roster spaces in the cap regardless of Bula $900k - for 27 that is already on the cap (as it was an agreed option) and we had TDS for 600k, Galvin for $1m and Bud on 500k plus many others. That doesn’t counter cap increase and squad reduction (which drives up cash per player as well).

I think we comfortably have over $2m to spend next season and even more the season after - obviously Richo will restructure deals and bring cash forward which frees up more cash for 27 onwards as well because no way he spends $2m on the player market for next season alone.

The only power Moses has is the rope that his clients and clubs give him!

He has none in this case because Bula has a contract and no desrire to leave!

My mates kid plays Jersey Flegg for Saints and Moses is his agent. He has nothing but good things to say about him and the reason he has so many under management is he does exactly as the player demands. He gives good advice, but leaves all decisions up to the player, then does his best to achieve the desired outcome. Seems like all the rubbish he's known for might be more player initiated than agent.

Not sure anyone has said what you've claimed though? All I'm saying is, 900K in two years time will be worth it IMO, the cap is going up.

Contract values are set by the market and what clubs need at the time.

Do you think Dylan Brown is worth 1.3m a season? He wouldn't even be in the top 6 five eighths but still getting top tier contract dollars.

This is nothing more than Moses agitating action on the contract extension.

I really like Bula as a player and as a human off the field. In saying that, if we were to lose him, we have seen that Turuva can do just as good a job in the #1 position and could pick up a quality winger to fill the gap...

What are Bulas ties to the club? I see he does a bit of work with in Redfern with indigenous kids is that right? Is he involved in any systems in the inner west/West with the Wests tigers?
I think keeping Luai and Bula beyond 2026 is pretty critical. That’s why success next year is not really negotiable. Need to stop losing marquee talent and stabilise the squad for a few years.

Not worth the oxygen - he has demonstrated that he selectively chooses not to grasp or acknowledge any of those things while shitting on one of our best and most committed players...

Shit bloke all round!

fullbacks will always be one of the highest paid positions in a squad
You are missing the point.
Some people are stressing thinking the sky will fall down if we do not take up the 900k contract for Bula.
The point I am making is the games elite fullbacks are only on similar or fractionally more money, therefore we could potentially recruit someone in that class for 2027/2028 if we decide not to take up Bula’s 900k per season contract. Add to that his dodgy manager who I am near certain will be pushing for us to pay more than 900k for him to remain with us.

Do a hypothetical top 30 for 2026/2027 with Bula on 900k and add increased value to lock up players such as Latu and Terrell, add a probable 450k to have Bud Sullivan continue to play for Souths and you will see for yourself, not much wiggle room to recruit anyone else of quality.
