Our attack and defence looks so much better with Lobby and Naden at the back. May and Makasini have looked strong with space. Kit’s charges have been damaging.
A much more fluent and connected second half. Given Warriors position in the ladder, we should be very competitive (with the right squad) for the remainder of the competition

Neither saw any ball in the first half. Both were elite in the second half. May saw more ball as they attacked that side a lot more often and scored 3 tries. Makasini strong in his own right. Especially for 17 years old. Both should be in our NRL side.
hmmm over to'a ???? even AD has been pretty good at centre

Thanks for the information

Naden changed our whole formation once he moved to fullback & Mason came off, also changed the Warriors attacking kicks. It’s funny as I’m not his biggest fan at NRL level but at KOE level is just a class above anything we have.

May after a meh 1st half started to get some ball and setup Tui a few times (his pace was lacking) then decided to run direct which lead to his 3 tries. He also made a try saver which good defensive read in 2nd half.

Makasini held himself fine but didn’t get space today on the right. He did make a bad read defensively where he got caught ball watching but aside from that was fine.

No one else really stood out in the forwards.
Kit had a good 1st half but was meh in the 2nd.

As has already been mentioned, Taylan May didn’t get much ball, but I thought he looked a bit unsure when the ball did come his way in the 1st half.
A lot more ball came his way in the 2nd half and he looked to get more and more confident as the game went on. It ended up being the perfect game for his confidence level and similar with Makasini, he was also rising in confidence as the game went on despite limited opportunities.
Luke Laulilli is wasted on the wing at NSW Cup level, needs to be fullback if not at centre.

When May decided to engage the line / run 1st he looked really good. Defensively he looked good as well, was holding his line and marked his man. He also looked for the ball in our end so wasn’t shy of looking for work.

May looks strong already, I don’t think it will be long before he is in 1st grade.

Makasini needs early ball, the kid isn’t shy and has urgency, he also isn’t afraid to do the hard work. Just needs more time I think defensively. A few things noticed today which were of concern (nothing few more games won’t solve) but that could also be playing right/combinations/talking etc. He does look the goods though. Would love to see how he goes under a few high balls.

The other thing for Makasini is run kid run. In the 1st half if he held the ball abit longer he might’ve scored or at least would’ve put Luke in a better position to score. He does have a tendency so far to pass quick but behind his winger (last week Izaac and this with Luke) so needs to get timing & decision right with speed of the game.

Spot on, great analysis.
Team selections are very baffling.
We ask Mason to play 5/8 at NRL level, it’s regularly discussed he looks best suited as a potential NRL 14 who can play at 9, maybe even a bit of 13 if we are chasing points, but hardly ever play him 5/8 and never give him game time at 9 or 13 in NSW Cup,
We ask Luke Laulilli to play centre at NRL level, but never give him any time playing there in NSW Cup. Luke must play fullback if we cannot fit him in as a centre at NSW Cup level.
We ask Charlie Murray to play hooker at NRL level, but hardly give him any time there in NSW Cup.
We play two edge back rowers who are both serviceable and both actually done some good things today, but El-Zakhem really isn’t an NRL option and I really like Luke Jack’s all action, no nonsense style of play, but he’s another who I know has played mainly as a middle before coming to us and being a lighter weight forward I think he would be best suited as a 13 or makeshift 9.
Then to hooker, as others have mentioned, what does Joe Lovodua in his late twenties offer us that Bailey Hodges cannot ?
Today would have been a great opportunity to start with Hodges at 9, then have him interchanged with Mason or Murray or Jack.
I realise we took Mason off at halftime, presumably because he will be the 18th man for our NRL team, but we need to be giving him game time at 9 and our 18th man for NRL coukd have been someone else.
Solomona Faatape I know has his faults mainly in defence and I understand with Makasini’s development why there was no place for him in today’s team, however I’m certain he will become very valuable at another club, very similar to how we didn’t want Junior Pauga and he’s since played some very good NRL games for the Roosters.
I honestly think his powerful ball running could work as an edge back rower, why not try this before cutting him loose ?
