Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Herbie's a superstar. I love Crighton as well, but Herbie's form this season is astonishing.
I’ve been trying to get my point across that we ideally need a superstar such as Herbie to really give our fans and our players belief that we can beat anyone on any given day.
I get plenty of replies that someone like Herbie is not a realistic target and I keep replying by stating he is currently available for 2027 onwards, he’s currently on a supposed 800k per season contract and with the inclusion of the new teams I’m sure he will command 1 million per season minimum from 2027 onwards.
So why would he choose to come to Wests Tigers ahead of every other club who would also want him ?
Much the same as Jerome Luai, money,
We would have to break the bank and offer him 1.1 if not 1.2 million per season to blow all other offers off the park.
Yes 1.1 or 1.2 million per season is a lot of money for a centre, but he’s not just any centre, he’s the best.
He’s a big, strong and fast athlete who would boost the confidence levels of all that play around him in attack and defence.
Logically speaking we would need to let go of someone else on big money to fit him in, so that would have to be either Jerome or Jahream, remembering we have a salary cap to abide to, so it’s probably not possible to have all 3 and still have a competitive team with them.

For the members that watch footy more than me what's the actual story with R. Hunt. Has he been playing any decent footy in the lower grades. I don't understand how you can drop so much form considering he only plays 20min a game . Can he be saved or do we need to move him on.

Name for me a team with a worse pack than ours ?
I have no doubt we need at least another impact forward for next year. I think it's fair to say we are one of the least intimidating forward packs in the competition, especially in defence althoughi dont get why our line speed is so bad . Compared to the dogs as I don't think there forwards are much better than ours.
Hopefully the 2 young backrowers develop a bit more and put on some size being a year older, would like someone like papa to add to the pack.
Wasnt there a rumour that we were looking at big Nelson last year. . We should of fine for AFB, and not believed I'm the stefano hype.

TIGERS LAND NEW RECRUITMENT BOSS

Shannon Gallant has become the new boss of recruitment at the Wests Tigers as the club chases a return to the finals.

Gallant was in charge of pathways at the Tigers when they discovered the likes of Lachlan Galvin and Tallyn da Silva. Those two players have departed but another generation of budding stars is about to be unveiled by the club including teenager prodigy Haemasi Makasini and Australian schoolboys representative Phoenix Godinet.

Gallant has played a major role in unearthing those players and he is set to take on a greater role alongside coach Benji Marshall and chief executive Shane Richardson as they look to return the club to their former glories.

Another former Tiger - forward Bronson Harrison - has taken over as the head of pathways.

I actually said we should make a play for Jock Madden as backup half a few weeks ago, experience, game management & goal kicking.

JOCK’S EYE OF THE TIGER

Jock Madden is on the verge of quitting the Broncos with three clubs, including Wests Tigers, eyeing off the Brisbane playmaker.

Sport Confidential can reveal Madden is considering a return to the Tigers club with whom he made his NRL debut in 2021 before his move to the Broncos two years ago.

Madden is contracted to the Broncos until the end of 2026 but is resigned to leaving Brisbane after the club recently extended skipper Adam Reynolds for a further 12 months.

The 25-year-old was being groomed to succeed Reynolds and had played 15 games for the club over the past two years when the Broncos skipper was unavailable through injury.

But under new coach Michael Maguire, Madden has yet to play NRL this season and appears to have fallen well down the pecking order behind Reynolds, Ezra Mam, Ben Hunt, Billy Walters and teenager Coby Black.

Hull FC coach John Cartwright is keen on Madden given his ties to the playmaker as a former assistant coach at the Broncos to Kevin Walters.

But Hull FC face competition from Australia with the Tigers and a second NRL club having contacted his management to inquire about the possibility of Madden leaving the Broncos at season’s end.

The Broncos are battling a salary-cap crunch and would save around $350,000 by releasing Madden, who played 17 games for the Tigers, from the final season of his deal.

Very interesting.

He hasn't got much opportunity at Brizzy.
Think he'd be a good back up.

I don't mind it especially if Sullivan is going. We need halves depth pending what Doueihi does.

If we can land Madden on a 2 year deal. Doueihi on 1 year & Javon Andrews I would give him Development (last spot) next year & 2 years after that we are good.

Doueihi plays 13. Jock as a back up half. If Andrews comes good may we move Latu to 13 in the future.

Much better position to be in than Brandon Wakeham & Starfod To'a in the 7 & 6 only 2 years ago.

Any aggressive forwards on the list Richo , or you exclusively looking at reserve grade halves ? Are we gunna sign this pie eater for $350k, and pay Souths the same to take Bud off out hands ?

So we are going to help the Broncos salary cap by signing old Jock strap, While paying most of Buds contract to play at Souths. Nice one Richo

We are nice guys aren’t we? Let players go early when they sign elsewhere …never get them early when we sign one ..

I thought the idea was to compete against the other teams …not help them
