Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The Jahream Bula situation is setting some alarm bells in my head if I’m being completely honest.

He’s an excellent player and I really want to keep him, and maybe this is a selfish perspective from me but to see the damage that Issac Moses has done to this club and align yourself with him does worry me. Plus all the BS that is following like him attending other games with his manager, why not go with friends or family? It’s a little fishy to me, especially given who his manager is.

I’m hearing that Jayden Campbell is being shopped around and is a free agent come November 1st.

If Moses/Bula start to try manipulate the situation and try rewinding the clock. I would be lining up Jayden Campbell as a fullback as I believe that’s his best position and telling them both to kick rocks.
I'm not turning against Bula just yet he is a talent and there is the Fijian connection I would think he sees a future here

did you actually support this club? because it doesn’t sound like it
After supporting this club from inception and just being crap for the past 14 years nothing ever changes. Every club goes up and down but we hold the record for longest finals drought.
We don't need more depth players half of our starting 17 is depth quality, we need 1st grade players.

Thankfully, the Tigers have the option to extend Bula on 900k. Moses cannot stop that.
I like the positivity that you have. One word "Bullying" changes that. I would like to think his father inlaw won't allow it but you never know.
Has anyone thought that the Jock signing is just in case Jerome decides to leave?

The first one that comes immediately to mind is Dylan Walker …would he have been an asset to the team as an acquisition mid season ? What are your thoughts on that?
Maybe? It's not as if he's suddenly become the answer to all the Eels problems. Until the last 3 weeks, he's been a bench player.

Question is- how much is he getting to be a bench player?

Molo. I don't know if he upgrades our current top 3-4 middles. Terrell May, Pole, Sione Fainu, Twal...he's probably somewhere between Sione & Twal. What kind of upgrade to the squad does that offer?

If we had signed the best fullback available, to compete with Bula, it wouldn't be a good signing. Players added need to upgrade the squad.

KPP upgrades the second row.
May upgrades centre.

Dylan Walker may have been a marginal upgrade. I think the horror & dismay at the Tigers recruitment, POST Jock Madden's announcement, has been nothing short of delirium.

Suddenly Jock is on more than ever before, Bud Sullivan's contract has increased by $100k over what has ever been reported, Bula's gone, Luai's gone...

This place whips itself into a frenzy as soon as one outlandish remark is made.

Why would he sign here for less when he was contracted next year at that amount and has three teams competing for him ?

Who said that about Bud ? I corrected that guy you might find
Why would he?

Because, like every other player that gets released by every other club in the NRL, it's MORE LIKELY that the Broncos will be paying a small portion of his contract to have him off the books.

If the Broncos chip in $175k of his $350 (that is only his guaranteed contract for 2026), the Tigers would pay $175. They might pay him $200k in 2027. Who knows? What were his options? Maybe the SL contracts were the same as what I posted? There is no certainty, and in fact, for a player unable to secure regular 1st grade football, more likely the outcome is his next contract value was lower.

I never said YOU quoted Bud was $750k. But you also now acknowledge that you can't take 'belief' as fact. Someone wrongly believes Bud was on $750k. Didn't make it so.

Why are you so aggressive about this today?

I think Dylan Walker would have been good for our team … Molo has played well in an admittedly better team than ours … I rate him better than any middle at the club outside May …

There is no certainty, but at least it’s based on something … a newspaper report about what he is on and the level of interest in the market … there is some logic beyond it ..

What is the reasoning from the other side ?

Alright. Cool. They are both fine players.

I think KPP & Taylan May offer bigger upgrades.

I think Luai, Turuva, Terrell May, Skelton & to a much lesser degree Bird & Hunt have offered significant upgrades on 2023/24.

I don't think the club is going about recruitment the wrong way.

we actually do because if luai is out for soo, our starting hooker goes to the halves or our starting centre goes into the halves. 1 out and our starting 13 is all reconfigured … and then everyone complains we look clunky.

I think some people's reflex is to blanket criticise any decision made by the club. Playing the constant contrarion is actually quite easy and lazy. It means you don't actually have to bother looking at individual decisions and their merit.

Maybe it's how fans have been conditioned over the last 15 or so years. In some ways its understandable.

He's a player tapped on the shoulder, told to go find a better offer elsewhere.

I guess it comes down to a couple of trains of thought.

Are you of the belief players want to play reserve grade with no shot at playing higher, therefore will stay just for the money?

If Bird was tapped on the shoulder- do you think another NRL team offers him $400k or more simply because the Tigers did? What if the Tigers chipped in half & the Titans said they had a place for him? Think Bird would stay at the Tigers?

Given the way things have been going recently, why in the world would anyone not think this is going to end in tears

It's perfectly sweet with me if people want to be critical. Everyone supports differently in the end.

But in the same breath, anyone else is entitled to not be critical as well, without being spoken down to like they know less, when it's becoming quite evident that a lot of the figures on here are just conjecture.

At the start of the year no one on here would have thought Galvin would leave either.
I think you might find that isn't the case.

But sure- there is a world where Madden might, maybe, if the club cannot sign anyone else, replace Luai.

Ahead of Doueihi & Heath Mason.

I know your using Bird as a hypothetical Chad but if another club wanted him, I would roll out the red carpet to the limo and move him on as quick as possible before the other club realize they have rocks in their head.
