Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I don't get this fascination to move Samuela to the middle his physique isn't ready for it.
I don't know about that... I heard players on one of the tv programs or a podcast, speaking about how hard it is to tackle Sam and how much they hate it... Can't remember exactly where I heard it...

I think it's a win for Sam's development and a win for the Tigers in the middle... Run it straight, try break tackles, offload where you can... Simple game plan... And he's effective in defence..

The downside for season 25 is that we don't have anyone to slot into backrow and replace him..

I agree. If we can find another edge backrower, Sam would be huge for us in the middle. He has that "ill ice someone to change the momentum" type attitude. On an edge he is finding it hard to line guys up.

i think this year we have been desperately short of middles who play with intent and aggression. Pole, May,Twal and Sione Fainu all have their strengths but they aren't exactly the prototype aggressive, dominant prop. I think Hunt was meant to be that guy but it hasnt worked out

We need to find one. Whether it is manufacturing one from within (sam fainu) or recruiting.

Agree id much rather Latu at 13 then Sam
I, and I expect others don't see Samuela as a 13, rather, we want someone with mongrel at prop. Again, I/we don’t necessarily want him to play there, but if WT cannot get a decent one that brings that, then getting a good left edge option allows us to shift him infield.

We are short of edges too though …Seyfarth has played most of the games

Big time but if we are able to land a top line back rower somewhere and successfully move Sam to the middle (while also being able to cover the backrow in a pinch) you are potentially solving 2 huge recruitment problems with one signing.

Not saying I would be moving Sam now (or at all) but I see the logic in it.

I know it isn’t a rumour or anything on topic, but if manase returns to the NRL, do we think he’d get booed like Ezra does? Personally I think he won’t because he’s done his time but curious to see what others think

It’s ridiculous. WT Player of the year on the edge in his first year…

The forum:
“Let’s move him”

How about we just let him develop instead of pointlessly moving him? His rangy, strong body type is much better suited to backrow. Getting him running at holes and over the top of opposition halves. It would be like moving Haumole to the middle.

The discussion around Samuela shouldn’t be about moving him, it should be about how our halves can utilise his strengths better.

He was playing in the middle in junior state of origin .. think it was U/19s?

So maybe we have weakened him by playing him on an edge and that's why he isn't as effective this year?

The Dragons are closely monitoring Chevy Stewart’s situation amid rumours he is seeking a release following the rise of Kaeo Weekes.

Similarly, Trey Mooney is looking at his options amid reports of Josh Papali’i’s extension.

get ‘em both richo !!!!
Don’t know how Trey Mooney has spent so much time in cup. He's been above that level for two years
