Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Can’t really answer that to be honest ..seems Kent’s only gig these days , and he has an offsider with him…I assume getting a sling as well…so must be some money in it ..

Ive seen it a number of times…he has reigned in the arrogance from the 360 days, but still likes going after the Tigers as most of them do …

Backdoor Benny is an absolute joke …how he is afforded a regular platform to continuously attack the club is beyond my understanding…he was bagging the new board over decisions made during the Lee/ Pascoe era
massive ego has Benny

That deadshit is still pissed that HBG wouldn't sell him and his partners nearly half of the tigers, think it was a 49/51 split they were after.

He was only a devoted Balmain supporter just bullshit that he supports us.

So, lets get the maths right:
You take an asset, like Telstra. An Asset that makes money.
Sell it, undervalued.
You retire debt, but you also LOOSE Income.

That Asset making Profit (Telstra, in this case 1.8 Billion dollars this year.)
That Debt, costing 0.6 Billion to service... (30 Billion * 2%)

Your basically 1.2 Billion in the red from that transaction.
Sorry but that is a totally oversimplified way to run that scenario.

For starters debt rates were not 2% back in 1997. They were around 5%-6%. Secondly, you neglect to mention whether or not there was an overall capital gain on the asset. Thirdly, the asset was sold as shares to the public, so if it did sell at a discount, many Australians are holding that in their superannuation portfolios and reaping those dividends directly along with any capital gain over the years.

This isn't a real financial analysis of the problem. It seems more like a political narrative which I've intentionally tried to avoid.

Once again. Whether you agree or not with how the country was put back in the black, the point stands that in just 18 years we have accimulated catastrophic debt which will take generations to pay back and will probably include higher taxes to even balance the budget let alone start making any surplus. When governments start throwing around ideas like tax on unrealised gains and inheritance taxes, you know they're in trouble. There's only so much money in peoples pockets to give.

Thats fine but my point is we are so far behind on all other revenue streams compared to most teams - our membership revenue is a disgrace compared to all teams, sponsorship well below most, game day from corporates is woeful. These are all revenue areas that Wests Tigers control - not HBG
Yes but all this changes when the on field performance improve and we are consistently winning.

I would like to see us go after Cherry Evans for 1 year with a further 1-year option. We can't insinuate a possible coaching position like the Roosters because we will get fined. Just ask Robbie Farah and our former CEO.
Fainu could learn off one of the best as he is not quite ready for the top grade. We would also have a reliable goal kicker. Ahhhh am I dreaming.
Helllllloooooooo - roosters have done a deal !!!!
Wake up its now August you have missed it all

It's about this time of year that most of the worst value contracts will get signed as bad teams go into bidding wars for players that are replacement value or worse.

Once this period is over the players that will be left to choose from will have skinnier markets and offer pretty similar value on field.

You don't want to get into a bidding war with Parramatta and the Dragons over Trey Mooney. They are desperate and have huge cap space. Let them drive his asking price up to dumb amounts of hang themselves on it. If he turns out to be better than he has managed to prove thus far then good on them for getting lucky.

Theres a few out there, Hamlin Uele mentioned above, could bring Royce back to life.... Mooney a solid talent. Also saw that the Eels are chasing Fermor, Fafita, Kolomaitangi, and Capewell...
SURELY Richo is on the hunt here for 2026, any one of those guys adds some spark in the pack.
Kolo would be my pick. The edges with Kolo and KPP, sweet baby Jesus hard to handle.
Add Ham U to compliment our boy TDM.... good Mana.

Would have thought we would have signed someone of quality so far but I’m holding on to hope Richo is just nailing a couple now , we need min 2 to 3 solid players and add May Jnr and AD to the list , asap Richo , a win today with an announcement on Tuesday be sweet noise this week coming

The club needs to be more proactive than “waiting for something to fall from the tree”. You have to be aggressive when you are a weak club. We’re way too passive.

Yep our backs are pretty much set now but we need more go forward.

I’m not sold on Talakai but Hamlin Uele is worth a look and we need another big damaging forward. Agreed he might spark Hunt in to form.

A young back rower with some grunt would be good. Fifita is who I would be targeting for about $800k per season tops.
