Your comments come back to bite you time and again. You said yourself that wet weather football requires different players. How do you know he will perform to the same standard in dry weather? How do you explain the poor performance earlier in the year at 7?

I know you use this as a place to dump whatever thought comes into your mind at that moment, but you need to remember the things you say and what has come before. Your world view is not coherent.

I don't mind offering him a reasonable contract. He plays many positions and he is valuable to us. I'm just not certain about him starting at 7 each game until I see more of him against multiple opposition.

Latu is 18 months away, assuming the next 18 months he is playing in the halves and learning his craft. We can't play him as a lock or bench utility for the next 18 months and expect him to be then ready to step into the halves after that.
Ideally we'd be a strong enough side he would be learning his trade in Reggie's. This unfortunately is not the case and even under developed Latu is in our best 17. So for the good of Latu, and the team long term, Latu should be starting next year in the halves.
Of course this is simply all just my opinion and it does not mean Doueihi does not have a place in the side.

A few other things that I think are irrelevant to the discussion but people keep bringing up with regards to keeping Doueihi or his worth
Local junior. Don't care if he has already played elsewhere. Local junior and one club player I might have some sentiment.
Leader: isn't and never has been in my opinion. Too many floors in attitude areas of his game to consider him a leader.
Loves the club. Don't buy it. Has left previously. Has repeatedly shopped himself around. Has previously shown attitude that is far from club first.
Other players values. Do I agree that he offers more value than many other players reportedly on more money, sure. But those players being over paid is not a reason to pay Doueihi more than his worth. If anything it might be the reason we simply can not afford to pay him his worth.

I believe in leadership he definitely talks the talk just doesn’t always back it up on the field

The AFL has rules around the draft etc - you cannot play in that competition unless you abide by those rules. The draft is run with the agreement of the AFLPA , they get a lot of concessions around payments etc from the AFL to agree.- which is something the NRL doesn't have so until it gets that you won't see the draft.

I believe in it from an experience perspective. He is experienced enough to know what is needed when and is a good communicator to say this is what we're going to do boys.
But a leader that drives standards, holds himself and others accountable and can teach younger players professionalism he is not the guy. As you say he does talk the talk but if he isn't backing it up he isn't the guy you want in this role.

I think what has been proven is that Douhei is required as much as Latu is and Luai.

Luai is a 6 but what does seem to work is the rotation of Douhei and Latu on a case by case basis. I think Latu is more open to coming of off the bench more than Douhei, and both can play lock as well (Douhei can play anywhere really).

The thing I really like about Douhei is his arrogance and run first mentality and wants his hands on the ball constantly.

The signing of Madden is purely for injuries only.

I think overall if we continue to win games, the players will want to stay. Latu gives me the impression he’s not all about him like Galvin.

Theory running around is the N.R.L need to agree to a lumpsum payment with the R.L.P.A for them to agree to it being implemented whenever they write up that agreement. So if the R.L.P.A could come up with a number it could happen. But imo I doubt they ever would.

It can't happen - the RLPA has no power to implement it on behalf of its members and there are no pathways to the draft!

Isaiya Katoa took 2 years of playing halfback week in, week out before he has finally become dominant. The Dolphins didn't drop him in that time for Sean O'Sullivan when they had plenty of reason to. Tell me, how is Latu going to develop into a dominant halfback if we are just going to play him off the bench for 40 minutes every week?
