My take on what he said was more along the lines of there will be even more rivalry/banter etc. rather than them giving us a flogging. That’s a bit negative. I think we’ll be far stronger than you give us credit for

In addition to this, I'm sure our sponsors don't want to be associated with actions like these, whether they are trivial or not. What most seem to be ignoring with regard Hand Gesture-Gate is the racial element. Had Adam Doueihi and Alex Twal been the players in question I don’t see much drama. Yet we had players of non Arabic heritage using an Arabic hand gesture to say “up yours” to a group of fans with Arabic heritage. This adds a racially mocking dimension to the episode. Imagine a trio of white dudes mimicking spear throwing at an aboriginal section of the crowd etc ...
As for comments about Bulldog fans deserving it. Trouble there is you can’t lump them all in together. Some Canterbury fans carry on like pork chops but others are fine.
Anyway, no one died. Hopefully our boys have learnt a lesson with regards cultural sensitivities and we all move on 👍
Cheers for that, I take that on board.Nonsense....I grew up in Sydney and we all taught each other these little things from each other's cultures. Khod is one of the things i laugh hardest at when I see an anglo or Asian do it properly. The "kh" is hard to say lol
Samuela Fainu apologised during the week and gave more context and it was something 99% of dogs fan would accept.
By the way we have had many more lebanese players and a lot of diverse fans. The dogs fans do not represent Arabs mate, the are fans of a footy team that's it. They can all khod if they aren't tigers, if this footage made it to Lebanon 75% of people under 30 would become tigers fans in Beirut lol
Id bet my left one we play them twice next year....the nrl will make sure of thatNothing in it, loved the celebration! Sets up a blockbuster with the dogs in 2026, they will be giving it to us at Homebush
One at Belmore and the other at Leichhardt would be a cracker but the NRL will schedule one at Accor and the other at Commbank.Id bet my left one we play them twice next year....the nrl will make sure of that
What a nark.
Phil Gould criticises promotion of post-try celebrations
Speaking on the 'Six Tackes with Gus' podcast this week, Bulldogs general manager Phil Gould said the NRL only has itself to blame for the over-promotion of post-try celebrations. That's despite 'Try July' – an NRL/Sportsbet initiative which encourages players to perform animated routines after scoring - raising close to $2 million for various causes since its inception in 2020.
Gould said: "I hate all the post-try celebration stuff. I hate the way we encourage it and promote it. I hate the way we promote the way the players react to the fans. When you score a try, celebrate with your teammates. I don’t like all that (carry on). But if you want to promote all that and do all that, then you're going to get this sort of stuff."
Gould did not mention Try July by name, but added: "I don’t like post-try celebrations. I don’t like players running up to the crowd and celebrating, because that leads itself to whatever you’re going to get," he said. The league will deal with this (Tigers incident). But if you keep wanting to promote that stuff… you want the rain, you better put up with the mud. This is what it's going to lead to."
He thinks he owns the sport.Gould is quite cranky these days ..always complaining about a sport that has employed him all his adult life and literally paid him 10 million plus
Our major sponsors CEO is of Lebanese ancestry. I would say deep down he loved it!In addition to this, I'm sure our sponsors don't want to be associated with actions like these, whether they are trivial or not.

Yep, His Dad was a humble Painter..Our major sponsors CEO is of Lebanese ancestry. I would say deep down he loved it!
At one point this year we had Sukkar, Twal, Douehie and Tallyn Da Silva's eyebrowsJust to add some context to KhawdGate I am Lebanese and my mother and in-laws (all Lebs) all laughed their arses off when they saw the team doing the Khawd. None of them Tigers supporters, in fact the in-laws probably lean towards the dogs. It was not racist or culturally insensitive of the players. obviously after it all blew up and in hindsight it would have been better not to do it. It was purely some pissed off dogs fans that wanted to get something out of the game that their team got pummelled in that complained. Andrew Abdo's background is Lebanese (yes I know he was raised in sth Africa) so it's likely he knew it was being overblown. The media ran with it and the NRL had to do something, so we were slapped on the wrist with a wet paper towel. The only people making an issue were the ones with an agenda against the team, including old mate Backdoor Benny.
Man, that kind of reminds you of a line of caterpillars crossing the asphalt all those eyebrows, eye-catching moments lol.At one point this year we had Sukkar, Twal, Douehie and Tallyn Da Silva's eyebrows
all in one team. Stacked!
The non playing Benny is a disgrace to the tigers and our shared cultural heritage
