Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The POM either worked at the WT or knew someone who did very well. His info was very detailed and usually correct. It seems either his employment or that of his source ended. Seemed to coincide with either Sheens or Pascoe leaving, full disclosure, I’ve not done a proper analysis…
Last post I remember from the Pom was about Pasco falling on his sword. It didn't happen and he was criticised. Reason I believe the Pom was actually in the know, was because in am interview after the old board and Pasco were told to walk, Pasco said he handed his resignation into the board but the board rejected it and he ended up staying on as ceo about 12 to 18 months prior to the board being dissolved.

Us men need to speak out and share much more often, particularly the older amongst us that were brought up with the stoic bullshit.

Last week I tuned in online for the funeral service in England of a 60yo mate that had been fighting his own health battle, but the mental ones had him leaving a loving family by taking his own life. We all need to both talk to and check on each other more often.
Your definition of stoicism is ignorant. You'd do well to learn a thing or two about it and it helps many people stay steady in good times and bad.

Stoicism isn’t about bottling everything up. It teaches that emotions aren’t wrong in themselves, but letting them control you leads to poor decisions.

It’s about staying rational and in control when facing emotions or problems. A Stoic might choose to share feelings or difficulties if doing so is useful for finding solutions, building trust, or supporting others. What they avoid is venting in a way that’s uncontrolled, self-pitying, or driven by panic. Sharing, but with purpose and composure.

Rant over.

Imagine if your boss rejected your resignation 🤣

He wasnt, not a hill to stake your flag on thou, How old are you
Just shutup man. He premise on stoicism is wrong and he could be removing a tool to help people based on his ignorance. Go read about it before you're so sure to come down on me.

It's bad advice because stoicism does help people with anxiety issues deal with it better. You're being a knob and ignoramus.

Don't see where the contradiction is. People think it means bottling up, but that is totally incorrect. Anyway...it was a minor correction which missed the broader point he was making and I should have come at it from a different angle. My bad.

There's a place for stoicism, and it can be a great trait to have, but the emphasis on it above all else, the numerous biological, environmental and societal factors that contribute to severe mental health, can become counterproductive.

If someone with major depression and suicidality is implicitly told they simply arent stoic enough, it can perpetuate the mental health problems. This is where the poster is correct. Social support, counselling, support putting a roof over their head, medication etc. may be more helpful for that individual.

Another point is that people might need assistance in changing ingrained perceptions of the world to become more stoic. It doesnt come innately to everyone, and not everyone can read Meditations. This can only happen when mental health is destigmatised so they feel like they can ask for help.
