It was the NRL's idea for indigenous round. Supposedly celebrating indigenous and torres strait islanders. Not sure I know anyone who genuinely went out of their way to celebrate someones race, but there you go...apparently we're doing it.

Can't say I really give a shit about any of this, when it's a professional sport and we lose a home ground advantage and clubs last week didn't have to "gather on Dharawal land" to play their games and celebrate something irrelevant to being a good football player.

We have indegenous rounds, multicultural rounds, women in league round...alll good stuff and all acknowledging the people and cultures that make the game what it is. Having said that this concept of playing all the games in one stadium (and losing home groud advantage) is not necessarily something I am sold on, we could easily pay tribute and celebrate at LO or CSS, Methinks there is a $$ incentive that all the CEO's agreed to.

There is nothing historically or culturally significant attached to this day. Indigenous people around the country are not celebrating the annual "Gadigal Gathering" so I have no clue why the NRL are doing it.

Again, my view is because it's manufactured and commercialised, whereas the KK is organic and has roots dating back to 1971 and doesn't cost 100 bucks a ticket to get in To one match. It's 40 bucks for 4 days or 15 bucks a day with multiple rivalries and winner takes all competition. There's something to play for and bragging rights associated to each tribe.

Having a few matches and calling it Gadigal Gathering doesn't do anything to inspire the same vibe as the KK. It's no different to any other weekend of football. What is indigenous about this weekend other than the marketing name? can't see how this event means anything other than the lip service promotion the players have to give in interviews.

Our indigenous fans now have to pay a $100 entry and travel to the city to watch their team instead of being able to play at their home ground. For what? Some 5 minute pre-game dancing? A welcome to country by Auntie or Uncle so and so and call it a cultural event...please spare me.

Even the women in league thing is truly insulting to all the fathers that take their boys to every game, coach the local team, run the line or ref the games...Mums do it too of course, but they only recognise one side. All this rubbish is virtue signalling. It's not a genuine recognition of the people that they dedicate these rounds to.

Who else do you name?

Reserve grade mids: Taateo, Kit Laulilii, Murray, Rahme, Porter, Aho. They were smoked by Canberra reserves last start. They had tall strapping athletic lads, Wests had these nuggets.

This is why the club needs to recruit decent middles. Nothing coming through apart from Tapau-Moors, and he's still 2-3 years away.

Most other clubs can cover losing one middle. Benji has lost Seyfarth (Bird is really a utility), and it falls away greatly. And we're comparing them to Seyfarth!!

With 3 edge forwards coming into the club from next season, Sukkar may find himself developing as a middle where his tackling efficiency can be utilised.

I was there the day the Raiders put 58 pts on us.
I also seen the Jersey Flegg game before it when we beat the Raiders comfortably.
And couldn't help but notice the Flegg forwards were bigger [overall] than the Cup forwards.
I think the penny has finally dropped. They appear to be looking for a different type of athlete.
