This is my major concern as well. But we havent won after a bye since '21
Broncos away
It’s all a tad woke for you, isn’t it Sunshine 🙄It was the NRL's idea for indigenous round. Supposedly celebrating indigenous and torres strait islanders. Not sure I know anyone who genuinely went out of their way to celebrate someones race, but there you go...apparently we're doing it.

Can't say I really give a shit about any of this, when it's a professional sport and we lose a home ground advantage and clubs last week didn't have to "gather on Dharawal land" to play their games and celebrate something irrelevant to being a good football player.
We have indegenous rounds, multicultural rounds, women in league round...alll good stuff and all acknowledging the people and cultures that make the game what it is. Having said that this concept of playing all the games in one stadium (and losing home groud advantage) is not necessarily something I am sold on, we could easily pay tribute and celebrate at LO or CSS, Methinks there is a $$ incentive that all the CEO's agreed to.It’s all a tad woke for you, isn’t it Sunshine 🙄
I would suggest that somethings are well worth acknowledging and celebrating - whether you give a sh*t about them or not.
Over to Heath Mason 👇
Explaining what the Gadhu Gathering means to him and his family:
“It obviously means a lot to the culture and my family in particular… pretty cool… a good cultural crowd.”
On the team’s recognition of Indigenous Round and Gadhu Gathering:
“All the boys that aren't Indigenous… they really got behind us and showed the importance of what it means… that was pretty cool.”
Highlighting the jersey as a symbol of connection:
“A group of kids… put their dreams and what they want in life into it… play in pride and give it back to them.”
That's great, but all this celebration could have been done at Leichhardt where we get a significant advantage even though I don't really understand what it is we are celebrating. It’s all a tad woke for you, isn’t it Sunshine 🙄

The NRL are clearly hoping this will become an annual event. That's great, but all this celebration could have been done at Leichhardt where we get a significant advantage even though I don't really understand what it is we are celebrating.
There is nothing historically or culturally significant attached to this day. Indigenous people around the country are not celebrating the annual "Gadigal Gathering" so I have no clue why the NRL are doing it.
But mate, if you're going to sit there and have a big celebration for the day...if that's what you and your family do...if it's important to you...then who am I to judge? Enjoy your Gadigal Gathering celebration.
Why not we got 2 points for it 😁Does a bye count for 2 in a row?
maybe...indigenous round and the all stars concept doesn't seem to have the same vibe after many years trying, so I don't expect this will take off either. There's no substance to it.The NRL are clearly hoping this will become an annual event.
In the years ahead it could well develop into something great.
If they can tap into even a fraction of the vibe that encases the Koori Knockout - it will be a win.
Into the future, I can see people coming from the bush to the city to be a part of a giant cultural celebration.
I think it has merit.
As Connor Watson says 👇
I know everyone seems to be confident about our chances, but Manly won’t be the pushovers many expect them to be. They played pretty well against a Canberra team on fire the other night. The forwards made lots of yardage up the field (especially Bullemor) and it was only Canberra’s amazing goal line defence that kept them from scoring tries. We are not Canberra, our defence will need to be good to hold them out.
Manly can still make the finals so they will be desperate and they still have some pretty handy players in their line up. We are on a high after our win over the Dogs, but it’s never easy for this team to win 2 in a row. I hope we will be switched on because this Manly team beat us quite easily not that long ago when everyone expected us to win.
No one has suggested this will rival the Knockout.maybe...indigenous round and the all stars concept doesn't seem to have the same vibe after many years trying, so I don't expect this will take off either. There's no substance to it.
The Koori Knockout gets far more traction so the NRL is obviously missing the mark. Again, my view is because it's manufactured and commercialised, whereas the KK is organic and has roots dating back to 1971 and doesn't cost 100 bucks a ticket to get in To one match. It's 40 bucks for 4 days or 15 bucks a day with multiple rivalries and winner takes all competition. There's something to play for and bragging rights associated to each tribe.
Having a few matches and calling it Gadigal Gathering doesn't do anything to inspire the same vibe as the KK. It's no different to any other weekend of football. What is indigenous about this weekend other than the marketing name? can't see how this event means anything other than the lip service promotion the players have to give in interviews.
You are the one who mentioned the KK.No one has suggested this will rival the Knockout.
Not sure why you’re so vehemently dissing the concept before it’s even had its first outing.
I like the idea - if done well I reckon it has the potential to develop into a huge cultural event. Let’s see what they serve up this weekend. You are the one who mentioned the KK.
I'm not sure why you're so supportive of it before it's had its even had its first outing.
What concept? What is it other than a name and teams playing at the same stadium for 3 consecutive days?
I don't get the concept. Explain it to me....what is the draw for fans? What makes this a drawcard concept?
Mate, these days they just make it up as we go along. That's great, but all this celebration could have been done at Leichhardt where we get a significant advantage even though I don't really understand what it is we are celebrating.

There are a number of reasons why the Tigers can't beat Manly but there shouldn't be any excuses with that injury list.Manly without a huge chunk of coin on the sideline
No reason Tigers can’t beat Manly
- Taniela Paseka (Achilles, Round 26)
- Josh Aloiai (Shoulder, TBC)
- Lehi Hopoate (Shoulder, TBC)
- Jake Trbojevic (Head Knock, TBC)
- Haumole Olakau'atu (Shoulder, Next Season)
- Nathan Brown(Biceps)
- Lachlan Croker (Concussion)

The EPL...huge sporting organisation...doesn't have any of these race celebration gimmicks...no one asked for them and frankly no one is celebrating them...they are playing to a crowd of virtually zero. People will go...to watch football...not because of this label they have lazily slapped on the tin.Mate, these days they just make it up as we go along.
Pretty woke if you ask me, like our PM laying down with Hamas.
Seems there is very limited confidence in the rest of the squad …
Well said WT.The EPL...huge sporting organisation...doesn't have any of these race celebration gimmicks...no one asked for them and frankly no one is celebrating them...they are playing to a crowd of virtually zero. People will go...to watch football...not because of this label they have lazily slapped on the tin.
Our indigenous fans now have to pay a $100 entry and travel to the city to watch their team instead of being able to play at their home ground. For what? Some 5 minute pre-game dancing? A welcome to country by Auntie or Uncle so and so and call it a cultural event...please spare me.
Oh no doubt! Everything the NRL does is about money. We have indegenous rounds, multicultural rounds, women in league round...alll good stuff and all acknowledging the people and cultures that make the game what it is. Having said that this concept of playing all the games in one stadium (and losing home groud advantage) is not necessarily something I am sold on, we could easily pay tribute and celebrate at LO or CSS, Methinks there is a $$ incentive that all the CEO's agreed to.
Even the women in league thing is truly insulting to all the fathers that take their boys to every game, coach the local team, run the line or ref the games...Mums do it too of course, but they only recognise one side. All this rubbish is virtue signalling. It's not a genuine recognition of the people that they dedicate these rounds to.We have indegenous rounds, multicultural rounds, women in league round...alll good stuff and all acknowledging the people and cultures that make the game what it is.
