Almost same team as our T20 side
Our weakest bowling lime up in recent memory

Interesting weve used same squad as T20 series
Where the 2 games we won
One mainly due to Tim David
Other mainly due to Glen Maxwell
So these are the 2 we've left out ?
Standout with the ball Travis Head responsible for 5 of the 8 wickets
4 caught and 1 brilliant run out at the bowlers end
Head the strike bowler ? Go figure ?

I’ll go out on a limb and say we can’t run 297 down without those 2 omissions.

They bring on their spinners after 8 overs we lose 3-7

That's 3 -20 off next 6
Head stumped 27 off 24
Marnus Lbw 1 off 6 ( as usual he referred it and was plumb )

Either their 2 spin bowlers are better than ours
We are clueless playing spin ! Mainly the latter
Now Inglis bowled for 5 Maharaj another

5-75 now Carey out first ball sweeping across full ball on middle stump
Weve lost 5-15 all to spin
Our batting so bad it's embarrassing
From 0-60 to 5-75 vs Spin
We can't play spin !!!!!!

Do our selectors realise ODI AND T20 I are completely different games !
They owe it to the public to pick and ODI Side

2nd ODI
What stands out to me is how ordinary our fielding is
The last ODI World Cup we were absolutely brilliant
The game vs NZ , the Semi vs Sth Africa and the final
We were diving around stopping and catching everything
Now our infield stop nothing and catch nothing
However we are doing a little better because Xavier Bartlett got 2 early
Sth Africa a little suicidal with a lot caught in the deep
Also without Starc and Cummins our attack is based on BBL stars which is a different game

Yes, Maxi has retired from ODI cricket 🏏
I will never forget staying up through fecking chemo to watch him bring us back from the brink with 200, and then gone on to win the tourney.

Yes the country that won 6 ODI world titles
Reason IMHO
Franchise T20 cricket !
Our best prefer to make millions going from franchise to franchise all over the world. Cant blame them !
Eg Tim David makes millions doing this and makes himself available for a few weeks for National T20 duties only and it keeps his form sharp
Wouldn't surprise if Maxxy doing the same
At least Test cricket still has a prestige of its own and is still attractive !
Franchise T20 cricket is an unstoppable force
It drags in the other 60% of the population who were not cricket lovers originally
It therefore has high attendance and TV ratings and hence sponsorship
We are heading for a world with just 2 forms of cricket
100 or 120 ball innings & Test Cricket
I loved the days of World Series Cricket 3 countries 15 matches
A 8 hour day at the SCG good value for money
It fitted in neatly with 5 tests during our summer
These days Alas gone !

Mate who cares how Australia go in bilateral limited overs series. When they won the T20 world cup they were on a terrible run, something like a 25% win rate in the previous 18 months in that format. They were playing crap before the last ODI world cup too yet they won again.

World cups and tests are all that truly matters in cricket. The rest is either hit and giggle cricket or practice for said events.
