OFFICIAL Royce Hunt #298

Geez....Royce's numbers read real bad from yesterday's KOE game.

1 run for 7m in 21 minutes & 60% tackle effectiveness...
they're slightly misleading. He played the opening 20, against a Dragons team which was essentially a first grade squad, and the Magpies had no footy.

It was 16-0 to Dragons when he came off. Why he didn't get brought back on I'm not sure. Kit only played 40 minutes as well, but Sukkar played 80. No idea what the plan is there

I could never understand why some supporters were delighted that he signed as he was never going to play long minutes (what we need most from our pigs).I hope he does not turn out to be another time server getting his pension.

I thought he was like 35 but no he's only 29. How can he be regressing at this stage of his career. It's not like he's mid-30s.
Yep - Red flags all over the place!

Consider the above along with he hasn't even played 100 Games,
only started playing top level consistently 5 years ago,
and was talking about his retirement last year (When he was 28)

No one would listen back then,
I Bet they're listening now?

Only 2 more years - Isn't it?

sure but technically Royce Hunt is also a first grader. That's just not good enough even for a reserve grader. He probably wasn't brought back on because he's not good enough.

Both Hunt and Bird started the year strongly but have gone off the cliff since.

A good team extracts above average performances from fringe players and we have struggled with that forever.

Luai, Api, Turuva, Twal, May etc can coach themselves. They're not the reason we are losing games. More focus needs to be given to Sukkar, Hunt, Bird etc.

Interesting statistic. Of all current Wests Tigers players in 2025 (who have played at least 5 games), the best win percentage we have when he has played has been Royce Hunt (5W 6L 45% wins), closely followed by Jeral Skelton (4W 5L 44% wins) and then Fonua Pole (6W 8L 43% wins)

For perspective Galvin was 5W 5L 50% wins
Da Silva was 5W 6L also 45% wins

Almost everyone else of our usually first picked have win rates between 30-35% for the season.

Absolute lemon of a buy. Two more years of him to go as well. To think of how lucky we got in getting May when we did. We'd be ultra dependent in this slug.

With our lack of depth we were always going to start better than we finished. Start of the year, everything is fresh, no injuries, motivation is high etc. It was the same last year. Unfortunately for us, the drop off on guys we bring into the squad, particularly in the forwards is far weaker than other clubs.

Looks like Royce Hunt could be potentially leaving tigers end of the year to the Super League https://www.alloutrugbyleague.co.uk/news/wests-tigers-super-league-radars-1333735
This + Bird... I love how we are setting ourselves up to make big plays on the open market.. Also after listening to Benji in the recent video with Skando, he's convinced they are going to be in contention for a premiership, making a comment about getting another tattoo.. what started as fantasy, bordering on delusion, is bit by bit starting to transform into reality.. I know there's a long way to go... But we are making all the right moves... And you can't buy the bond our players have at the moment ... I don't know why I do this to myself 😅😅

The last month has shown that style of team we could be. We have been lucky with injuries and need to bolster the squad with more quality players. Richo has been spot on in recruitment and retaining the players that are buying into Benji's direction.

Personally think Hunt is a keeper.

Also be a surprise if no NRL team is interested.
I think hunt did every thing he was signed up for against Manly. Not his fault he cant run off the back fence every play. Took the ball and ran hard everytime he got it. I give him a pass mark v manly. Keep him in the team and keep him in top 30 until end of contract. He will suprise most that think he can not be that player. I just watched the replay. See more things in repalys. Sam and Sione smashed Manly. Skelton toa dhuoie and Api all made up for those arm grabs for Manlys first try cant add bulla even though with a bit more effort may have stopped that try. Murray and sukkar played the part thay were given. TWAL is a beast and the knockers need to go watch a game show. The million dollar moment. Overall a great team effort. Scramble defense remindered of dare i say it '05!!!! BENJI'S TEAM/ OUR TEAM😁😁😁. If there is any chance Richo get that Koula from Manly. Great player.
