Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Strange take considering Arthars was dropped for his poor defensive reads and missed tackles. To'a isn't a great defender by any means, but you really must not have been watching Arthars much to believe he is a better defender.

They played a similar amount of games this year and To'a had 20+ more tackle breaks, more try involvements (despite Arthars being a winger) and essentially averaged the same amount of running metres which involves kick return metres for Arthars. To'a also averaged more post contact metres. All while Arthars was playing for a top 4 team and To'a a non-finals team.

Its a bad pattern our fans have, they hate on our players more than they deserve and rate some opposition players more than they deserve. Then we wonder why our players look good once they leave and players that people thought looked good at other clubs all of a sudden look bad at ours.
I’m of the belief that To’a will continue to disappoint, be a passenger and let us down but, hopefully I am wrong as our success in 2026 appears to have a heavy reliance on him playing consistently well for us at right centre.

Reuben Porter & Alex Lobb also included in the departing players graphic in the member's email from the development squad.

One omission from the departing players is Will Craig. He was on a development contract this season & doesn't feature in the graphic with the others.

If retained, hopefully he is on no more than a NSW Cup contract.
Don’t you recall; he signed an extension with the Tigers last year; was posted on Facebook.

has anyone done the math & know how many spots are now left with those departing players confirmed?
I’m not sure, but my count says we currently have 27 top 30 players contracted for 2026 including Bud Sullivan who we are supposedly offloading to the Rabbitohs and including Jack Bird who we are also rumoured to be trying to offload.
So if we successfully offload those 2, we would only have 25 contracted top 30 players for 2026 by my count ?

Nothing against the guy, but, it will be so good to look at the WT NRL 30 squad and not see Tumeth there. Hopefully the last of the previous mobs sign to top 30 on potential players. I know it should be done occasionally but not to the degree it was here. Our old top 30 had about 22 at Max players that could realistically compete for the 17 man squad.

Agree, but also seemed as though he was carrying a significant injury for half the year. Hopefully that’s what was restricting his performances.

Canada

This is from a few years back but think they still use the same mob

Yes it is but the NRL tell them the major points of the season like who plays in Vegas who has byes around origin and who plays in last weekend of the year and what days they play on and the computer does the rest and it's a few draws they are presented with before making final choice

So it's rigged but we get an outside company to rig it for us So All Is Good

Bird is looking elsewhere too (some behind-the-scenes stuff I promised not to share) so could have another roster spot before the start of next season. I love his energy but didn't really find his spot here.

Also, the tigers would love Talakai but doubt the Sharks will let him go after his late-season form (their words). They see him as the perfect utility, best suited in the middle off the bench but can cover edge and centre. I guess it'll come down to salary cap pressure.
