better than 3rd hand shoes with paper in the toe n a few pages folded in the base to save the sock from a puncture hole. Shoes were terrible back in the day ,it usually meant following Mum's protocol for a family or special town event tarting ourselves up,and hold it together until the group photos were taken , Then the place cut loose

riding the bow wave on the Circular Key 2 Manly return . In bad weather they used to lock you in on a Farey or hydro foil . Brother and i always found a way out, waving at Mum knocking to come in. We could duck the wash as it hit the boat , stayed totally dry .
