Racing tips, talk etc

Really only the Cox, Moonee Valley Cup & Geelong Cup of any significance to run. And the Cox Plate hasn't been a great indicator for the Melbourne Cup lately.

Barriers & conditions...jockeys...they'll all play their part. But what I've looked for, I've liked from those 3 in particular.
Although that Geelong Cup yesterday was a very moderate field.
I thought the 4th horse in the Caulfield Cup, Presage Nocturne, ran what I’d call a good old fashioned Melbourne Cup trial. I’ll certainly have a few dollars on him.

Good horse.

Only 1 start in this prep though. Of the past 5 years, only 3 horses placed in the Cup on the back of 1 prep run. No winners. And that Japanese horse last year was a cracker.

9 horses have placed in the last 5 years off the back of 3-4 runs. Averages say you need the metres in the legs.

Interesting field for the Cox in terms of the Melbourne Cup

Aeliana has had a good prep & a decent result in this would put it in some serious conversations for the Cup

Treasurethe Moment has had an interesting prep lead up with some unusual choices for lead in races, but a good result might make it a strong favourite with punters at Cup time.

Via Sistina has been barnstorming & will be my tip to go favourite in the Melbourne Cup. That said, favourites don't mean winners. But unless something awful happens, this one has to be in calculations. Half wonder if the Cox wasn't the actual target for this prep.

Buckaroo has great form through the Memsie, Underwood & Might & Power & has to be right in this.

Although the Cox hasn't been a great indicator for Melbourne Cup success of late, this race should produce a few hot chances. All 4 of these horses meet the criteria of metres in their legs too.

On the downside- 3 x mares who do not 'traditionally' have as good a success rate in the Cup, and Buckaroo is 7yo, putting him up in years in terms of recent success.

For mine, watching Aelina & Treasurethe Moment most closely in terms of Melbourne Cup chances.
