Our preparation in last few months terrible
Cummins not fit ,Hazelwood not fit ,Kwajaja not fit
Batting line up ,jumping and trying to ride high bounce
Technique really lacking .
Starc great ,Doggett ok but rest leave me thinking Ashes in serious jeopardy
Eng 192 Aust 9-123
The fact that Lyon batting at 9 says we have no tail
Doģgett batting below Boland ?
We had 1 Starc they had 3 or 4 Starcs
Well done Starc ,pity the rest of the team let you down

Scorecard so far looks very similar to the same test last year against India.

Early doors and plenty of time to turn it around but my god that batting was awful.

feels like upside down world with England having 4 guys who can bowl 145+. Hate it

Those last two wickets were a killer. Could have eeked out enough to draw level with 3 wickets left. Now, the Poms most likely have a handy lead. Someone on commentary said the Aussies must be shell shocked. Why? Is this a new phenomenon with the Aussie batting?

Nineteen wickets in a day and i don't think you can blame the pitch at all.It was just terrible batting on both sides.

As they say, don’t judge a pitch until both teams have batted on it, but WOW!
you'd reckon both camps are having big postmortems - this first test is pretty much the gateway to what follows.
The Poms are fighting the Bazball overtones while we Aussies are showing our worst nightmare (and what we've had for recent seasons) - a very ineffective batting top order, and then there's the age issue - too many relying on past form.
Anyway, it's nothing if not intriguing from here.

The only other opening day I can think of that comes close to that is Lords 2005. Aussies bowled out for 190, and England went to Stumps, at 7/92. Would have been an interesting stat if England got the last wicket. I can’t think of any Test where both sides got rolled on Day 1. Let alone an Ashes Test.
