I wasn't aware Broad had said that and agree, its hard to argue with it. The only people that haven't seen how much we have been carried by the bowlers are the selectors it would seem.I can’t think of another team in any other era, any other nation, that has been carried by their bowlers for so long. They are noting today without Starc. Love or hate him, there’s a lot of truth to Broad’s comment about this being the weakest Aussie side in 15 years.
Its a good question, personally with 19 wickets falling I didn't notice the slow over rate. What was worse
The batting or the over rate?
19 wickets and only 72 overs bowled in a full day.
I think for sure. Boland never looked likely and Green and Doggett weren’t going to do it on their own.I wasn't aware Broad had said that and agree, its hard to argue with it. The only people that haven't seen how much we have been carried by the bowlers are the selectors it would seem.
Englands bowlers had our batsmen hopping around everywhere on the contrast without Starc yesterday, I feel like England would be a few wickets down for 300 + at the moment.
19/ 295 was the score. Ridiculous. It’s a good question, personally with 19 wickets falling I didn't notice the slow over rate.
I think Bazball will click for them at some point. They only need a couple of good batting sessions and they will make 300+ at a minimum. I don’t see where the Aussie batting improves though. It’s just more of the same. What stood out for me was the Poms bowling plan to be relentless through all bowlers( something Tiger forwards could take notice of for 26). It was a team effort.
They had a multi level plan to keep the foot down all day and it worked so well.
Stokes five for was as much about the other bowlers as it was for him.
There used to be an old saying that the first day sets up the series, if that’s true then it’s going to be Bazball batting ( even though it was only 172 the run rate was nearly 6) and bowling ( 2 clocked at 150 plus and 2 at 140 plus).
Shades of Clive Lloyds West Indies !!!
We are going to need a serious turnaround to not get spanked, God only knows where it would have ended without Starcs Herculean effort !!
I almost spat out my morning coffee yesterday when I heard Uzi was strapping up with his 6th opening partner. How the hell has he survived as long as he has? One of the greatest protected species in modern cricket.Australia’s batting line up has been very poor for a few years. If Head or Smith don’t get runs it’s curtains and the better sides have worked Head out. Of course what other options do they have. If the Poms get a winning lead in the series and Iam sure they will, it will be time for a major overhaul of the batting lineup
