in your community do you loose cell phone and wifi connection when the power is out
Can base my estimations on how long until the power will be shut down and return based on phone cell reception ,
Strange days indeed.
Rebate is given if inclined. Funny as it ridicules the whole system (lol) shuts down in this modern day when the wind blows nasty

Cell phone/ wireless is completely different from wifi . Your wifi will drop out because it’s just a wireless output of your landline connection .
Your cellphone/mobile is usually suffering from lag and congestion issues because your whole community is now using their mobile phone to do whatever it is they need to do , and Telstra don’t release more bandwidth as the customers create congestion, as with things like enterprise Ethernet and gigabit retail services , there simply isn’t enough frequencies , which is why 5G and 6G are encroaching on the FM spectrum .
The real issue is , in a lot of places carriers like Vodafone didn’t put up towers or antenna array on existing networks/ joint venture with Optus . So the lack of diversity and choice means congestion on the 4G/5G when the landline drops .
It’s not a fun answer mate , buts that’s actually what’s happening . There’s no conspiracy . The frequencies by the way arnt set by Telstra , NBN , Optus , etc . There’s an international ombudsman which dictates what frequencies are allocated for what , and safety etc.

Thanks Lestronge, your info i agree with up to a point.
Power went out approx 1-15pm Wed, phone deactivated approx 3pm,internet ,wifi shut down between 3-45/ 8 -15pm?
Friday 8-30am 8 txt on phone from oz grid ,power will be back on at 4 pm, internet re engaged 8-30 am also ,My thinking was if those 2 are working power will be resupplied much earlier .came back on at 10-45 am
Did a fuel run thurs arvo 35 min away ,Attendant told some guys not to freak out about credit - place is on skynet,?
What gets my goat is all of us are basically being pushed into feeding our whole way of life to operate in the modern world via gigs. The system is soft and full of holes ,which in floods or fires (had more of our fare share hear in the last 5 years ,especially 20 -23 1/2) just collapses when the power is cut to homes, Not happy Jan .rant over .peace out. Any words of wisdom to sooth my brain would be appreciated lol

Youre probably have FTTN which has battery backup in case of a power outage . Your internet would have been powered at 830, with the complete restoration of power of the whole area at 1030.( that’s when they would have closed the job off ) .
It’s not full of holes . The reality is people stopped using landline around 2010. Your mobile phone does all the heavy lifting in 2025 . As for what was going on with your mobile , if the towers are down because of a natural disaster they’ll run generators to the huts . Depending on how remote you are , will obviously depend on how quickly someone can get there to run it off a generator before the batteries die . Also the bigger the hut, the bigger the generator required which usually means it’s harder to resource and locate .
So a sparky will have to be engaged to go . Locate a generator - that could mean going to thier warehouse , or could mean going to Coates or wherever , the get on the road to your site . Time to setup , access issues etc . Sometimes it’s not unheard of for the initial outage to have been 24hrs prior to someone actually getting onsite .
And as for natural disasters , or whole town outages etc. the towers are priority number 1.
People can’t teleport to you mate , and there’s not someone sitting around waiting to spring into action , like a fireman going down a pole.
I always say to people , as harsh as it is , the best thing about being remote is your away from every one else, the worst thing about being remote is your away from everyone else .
Also for anyone else reading this it’s frustrating when people compare aus to any other country as if they’re comparable .
People bring up Korea or Europe , yet the topology and geography of that places is nothing to Aus. Mountains preventing line of sight , remote areas that are desolate , long rugged bushland between towns , weather that changes in an instant . Most countries don’t experience this , and as such the complexity of what is required to maintain thier network isn’t even a fraction of what Australia’s is . Sure some dum dums about 10 years ago set the country back a decade , but as we roll in to the 2030s most of that will get overbuilt . Especially now Rupert has sold foxtel.

we have towers 40 minute away on 3 sides ,been told they have a 12 hour battery back up .
Funny thing is 2 out of 8 peeps ,and us 2 don't give a toss about - staying connected, made the biggest fuss ,other 6 thought we were mad to complain , and they never stay off their phones etc .
Just saying this day n age its unacceptable
