He doesn't see wests going south. He is a director of Wests Ashfield and I suspect the HBG group want to keep the club in that area.

As I’ve said before the NRL are responsible for the brand equity for the “Wests Tigers franchise” and can intervene if they feel that equity is being tarnished. I can’t think of anything more that can be done to tarnish the brand.
PVL must intervene, call all relevant parties together, and bring some
“ common sense” into the whole scenario.( yes, I know common sense is in very short supply these days).
Otherwise, if left to the current owners then it will remain a shambles and the future for the WT very uncertain.

The worrying thing for me when you listen to the song or you hear the statement from Paton, and also the statements from Laundy and PVL above. They think the majority of supporters want to hold onto Balmain and Magpies. But in reality the minority, including HBG want this. However, what they don’t realise (or maybe they do?) is that it’s a recipe for failure. To me it seems like the options are we hold onto the traditions tightly and we continue to fail, or we commit to an independent Wests Tigers from the juniors through to First Grade and create a club for the next generation of kids to aspire to play for and support. To these traditionalists, I urge you to think back to the day when you were a child, when you first saw your Magpies or Balmain play. By holding on so tight you are preventing the next generation of kids from experiencing what you did.

The move to independence and a focus on one Wesrs Tigers was the first steps towards restoring success. I believe it’s this united position that will help honour the clubs that came before us. But now, while we we hold on so tightly we not only tarnish the reputation of the Wests Tigers but also of the clubs we so dearly loved before.

24 months ago a review found that WT needed an independent board , that (and our pitiful history) should tell you all you need to know.

Barnier didn’t charge a fee for enlightening the HBG board of this, so its value to those board members was predetermined. Something they already knew wasn’t what they wanted, but they played along to settle the fans.
I wasn’t convinced at the time that HBG was fair dinkum about the review and their current antics shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.
Look, I don’t care what DB does in his spare time or what he has loaded on his insta or why his hair doesn’t seem to grow, but I do feel in my bones that getting him punted is not the remedy. There are 19 others supporting his antics.

I use to be concerned about private investors but at this point any option would be better.
