HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

I just cannot continue to support with my heart and soul a club with Dennis Burgess slimy grubby sleazy fingers all over it !! Stuff him and his ahole pack of rock spider mates going by the HBG alias !
100%. That's it. Like, I get the supporting the club aspect, but you need to have one angle of respect. The cretin won't even come out and explain himself, despite the heartache and anger he's causing in thousands of people. Pathetic human, along with the rest of the people supporting him.

Wests Tigers chief executive Shane Richardson has informed staff that he will walk away from the joint-venture as the club’s front-office turmoil claims another high-profile scalp.
Richardson is poised to quit his role less than 18 months into a four-year deal that began last July, in response to the removal of four independent directors from the Tigers board last week.

Richardson called a meeting on Monday to tell staff of his decision. It is unclear at this stage when Richardson will end his tenure but his decision will leave the club without a chairman or CEO, given he follows former NSW premier and administrative ally Barry O’Farrell out the door.
Outgoing Manly boss Tony Mestrov – whose tenure at the Sea Eagles is due to finish on December 19 – has been approached as a replacement but is yet to confirm his next move. Mestrov declined to comment on Monday.

Richardson’s move comes as the NRL determines whether there are grounds to investigate the veteran administrator’s conduct and a potential conflict of interest regarding the use of the Enrichd Group – a company Richardson part owns with his son, Brent – for marketing, branding and digital consultancy services.
Richardson has declared the potential conflict of interest previously and is privately adamant the whistleblower tip-off to the NRL will amount to nothing.
Sources speaking on the condition of anonymity have indicated Richardson’s contract contains termination clauses that protect a lucrative payout.
Despite a seemingly positive season on the field which saw the Tigers progress under coach Benji Marshall, with recruits Jarome Luai, Terrell May and Sunia Turuva lifting the club from the bottom of the ladder, majority owners the Holman Barnes Group dismissed the board’s independent directors in the club’s latest off-field drama.
HBG directors have grown frustrated with the approach of Richardson and the Tigers board.

HBG chief executive Daniel Paton said in an interview with this masthead last week that club owners have been excluded from key decisions, such as the football side’s stadia strategy and player signings above a certain transaction limit.
Paton denied there was a desire among HGB directors for Wests Magpies to shunt Balmain Tigers out of the joint-venture, as had been claimed by former Tigers chairman Lee Hagiapantelis.
ARL Chairman Peter V’landys and the state’s liquor and gaming watchdog, Liquor and Gaming NSW have confirmed they are monitoring the Tigers’ latest administrative drama, with V’landys promising the NRL would “safeguard” the club’s long-suffering fans.
Sad, sad day for the club. Hope those involved in this whole episode are met with outright hostility at every opportunity next season. Attending home games should be a very uncomfortable experience for them.

What must the players be thinking? Would love a fan group to meet with the playing group next year to explain what the club means to so many people.

I don't know about everyone else, but if HBG get away with this, no more games, merchandise from me. After 25 years of this (40 years incl pre-merger), I'm done.

Phins up

No board No CEO... Hey NRL I think we need an administrator... Just saying

If Richo stays it may not justify removing HBG, he goes it does.

Essentially the NRL can argue we have no corporate governance in place & MUST provide it.

The teller will actually be whether Benji, Bula or Luai move... They would be aware of the best case scenario

I will always support the players brave enough to pull on this cursed jersey. I have chosen not to renew my membership though, and I will encourage my children to support their local team (unfortunately for them is the Knights)

The most infuritating thing is that we know HBG will get away with it, as that is how the world works. The only thing they care about is taking pensioners money and reminiscing about their useless, dead football club.

It matters to no one here but this is me signing off for the last time. I will not give the club any more energy. The people in control of the club obviously hate the club and have an agenda not in the interest of wests tigers. Its clear insanity to support the club in its current state. I will be done with the NRL entirely if western suburbs magpies or balmain tigers ever run out.

This is probably one of the lowest day in the clubs history if Richo walks.

There is far too much self-interest for the Wests Tigers to ever be a successful entity.
Whose self interest though. What did HBG gain by doing this? WT barely makes money and most NRL clubs dont. They have much bigger fish to fry with their own clubs.

What did they actually achieve by doing this? "They have more control over WT". But what are they gonna achieve with this control.

I think it's personal, that DB and co can't stand seeing how inept they are, with the turnaround in just 1 year. So, like the emotional toddlers they are, they upended the monopoly game to prove they're the best. Disgusting!

Benji will be next on the chopping block if he goes it will get really ugly.

Players only signed because of Marshall; next question is how many players have clauses in their contract Re coaching.

Bula will have Isaac Moses in his ear now the s t has only just begun.

If Marshall goes Luai will follow.

Expect more pile on from the press and it will be well deserved.

They are entitled children with too much time on their hands. They don't see the club as for the fans, they see the club as their little play thing. How insecure must they be?
