HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

Iv no doubt that whoever purchases it will be mandated by the N.R.L that everything remain Wests Tigers. As it should be. Other thing is technically if privatised and taken from HBG then Wests and Balmain will no longer be a part of the club as they're under the HBG umbrella. If we split I'm assuming we would need to rebuild our reserve grade team juniors and rebramd as the Wests Tigers. We would play against Wests and Balmain. So I can't see how any one could change anything.
If someone else was to take 100% control, there's nothing stopping them from building a new framework which includes these clubs.

My preference is to go to a Wests Tigers NSW Cup team.

Of course, the Magpies NSW Cup team is it's own entity anyway, so they would probably remain in NSW cup. We've had 2 WT aligned teams in NSW Cup before. We don't need to throw the baby out with the bath water or punish Wests lower grades. They aren't the problem.

Not me.
I’m talking about perceptions.

Darcy Byrne with cheerleading from the podcasts are who I’m talking about.

This perception may well be just as unfounded as Burgess and his mates trying to get the Magpies back into the NRL.

Both are conspiracy theories, yet it would appear that only some conspiracy theories are seen as kosher on the forum

When Darcy Byrne sacks a successful independent board for the WT …we can compare things apples for apples

Wests Tigers chief executive Shane Richardson has informed staff that he will walk away from the joint-venture as the club’s front-office turmoil claims another high-profile scalp.
Richardson is poised to quit his role less than 18 months into a four-year deal that began last July, in response to the removal of four independent directors from the Tigers board last week.

Richardson called a meeting on Monday to tell staff of his decision. It is unclear at this stage when Richardson will end his tenure but his decision will leave the club without a chairman or CEO, given he follows former NSW premier and administrative ally Barry O’Farrell out the door.
Outgoing Manly boss Tony Mestrov – whose tenure at the Sea Eagles is due to finish on December 19 – has been approached as a replacement but is yet to confirm his next move. Mestrov declined to comment on Monday.

Richardson’s move comes as the NRL determines whether there are grounds to investigate the veteran administrator’s conduct and a potential conflict of interest regarding the use of the Enrichd Group – a company Richardson part owns with his son, Brent – for marketing, branding and digital consultancy services.
Richardson has declared the potential conflict of interest previously and is privately adamant the whistleblower tip-off to the NRL will amount to nothing.
Sources speaking on the condition of anonymity have indicated Richardson’s contract contains termination clauses that protect a lucrative payout.
Despite a seemingly positive season on the field which saw the Tigers progress under coach Benji Marshall, with recruits Jarome Luai, Terrell May and Sunia Turuva lifting the club from the bottom of the ladder, majority owners the Holman Barnes Group dismissed the board’s independent directors in the club’s latest off-field drama.
HBG directors have grown frustrated with the approach of Richardson and the Tigers board.

HBG chief executive Daniel Paton said in an interview with this masthead last week that club owners have been excluded from key decisions, such as the football side’s stadia strategy and player signings above a certain transaction limit.
Paton denied there was a desire among HGB directors for Wests Magpies to shunt Balmain Tigers out of the joint-venture, as had been claimed by former Tigers chairman Lee Hagiapantelis.
ARL Chairman Peter V’landys and the state’s liquor and gaming watchdog, Liquor and Gaming NSW have confirmed they are monitoring the Tigers’ latest administrative drama, with V’landys promising the NRL would “safeguard” the club’s long-suffering fans.

Sad day if all options re intervention are already exhausted or not being pursued.

I feel no connection to the club at the moment. Honestly, I hope that continues, I know there is a chance many of us still tune in rd 2 but zero chance of me renewing membership this year and hopefully I move on and dont bother tuning in. Now happy we have the bye round 1. Happy if all the players walk and they can't even field a team.

Agreed, if Richo is forced to go then I’m gone too. He is the only shining light we’ve had in over a decade of despair and if he goes, we’re back to square one, imo. I, for one, am not willing to go back to square one to support this club anymore.

If the club doesn’t want to be successful and would rather continue wallowing in their own mess, they can do it without my support, clearly the fans aren’t being considered. I’m sure they won’t care or lose any sleep over losing one lifetime supporter, but I care. However, life is too short to choose to put up with this incompetent BS every bloody year.

Really?

I'll always support the Wests Tigers, who cares about the owners. There are weird owners all over the world. Why let them influence you on your support, there a bunch of dikeheads remember.

I will always live in hope.

This is a bummer.

When something like this happens, I often try and have a big view that who's winning in all this?

Surely HBG can't be winning. They would've known that the decision last week would have all these reprucssusions. Surely, it cannot be good for their business as well.

This whole thing is completely unprovoked and is bad for everyone. HBG, WT, NRL. Not even a single individual is going to benefit from this whole situation.

I feel defeated. I can't imagine what the players must be going through doing a pre-season in this heat. They must feel defeated even before the off season break.

At least your Luais and Bulas have clauses or are getting pain $800k +. Imagine your 2 dozen 20 year old in the 3 grades hoping to make a big push towards the NRL and this is what they're left with.

The morale would be completely gone. They will come up with the same "we are in this together, off-field distractions don't affect us bla bla" but they do.

It looks so dire and hopeless.
