Bazball has been made the scapegoat for why they have failed spectacularly so far, but I don’t think that’s the reason at all. I just don’t think they are good enough. If you want an example of Bazball being at fault, re-watch Lords Test match from 2023. The infamous Bairstow run out Test. They had the Aussies on the ropes in the first innings of that Test, and the Aussie attack was down a man as Lyon got injured. They were 1-188, then got rolled for 325 and finished nearly 100 behind going into the second innings due to stupid shot after stupid shot and subsequently they threw the match away.

Plus, they just aren’t mentally tough enough to win out here. Which is an indictment on them as teams with less going for them like the Windies have managed to win here.

I was thinking the same thing when reading The Run Smith is out. He has left the ground so he is done for this test.
How lucky have they been with our injuries?
