Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

No he wasn’t you liar.
Don’t go throwing around insults when you clearly don’t have correct information.
What a pathetic attempt at muddying the waters.
Once again, there's a reason many have muted you.
He did not want to leave. He was sacked, with a big payout. And a non disclosure statement and brief Statement. That's how desperate Wests Ashfield were to remove his thorn from their sides.

The only thing that's pathetic is your attempt to kiss the ass cheeks of the failed Wests Ashfield debenture holders.

Lol how do you know who has who on mute?
Please provide evidence that anything in your statement about how he left is true...and yes the onus is on you, as what you said is not being reported anywhere by anyone that I’ve seen. If you have proof, please share it.
As for the arse kissing allegation, I certainly have never done that.
I was one of the very first to call them out a long time ago. I was banned several times for doing so. You are dead wrong.

It’s been 20 years since this club has produced a gun centre. TWENTY YEARS. Crazy suggesting the first potential gun after that length of time be moved to fullback. I’m sure he’ll start on the wing, which is fine. But he needs a chance to transition to centre and be the gun we need.
Agreed, and that's the key to development.

We clearly need gun centers. I see Center as a gap that we have left wide open.

Your right Makasini probably suits Center more then fullback and gun centers are rarer now then gun fullbacks.

It's a key task for our club. You can see how we have gotten Adam Doueihi wrong and how his career has suffered because of that. Maybe we were doing better then Canterbury in pushing Galvin to 5/8 isntead of Halfback.

We really don't seem to be strategic at all, to be honest. The only good development promotion was Bula in recent times.

Factors:
What's the players best position, what are they naturally.

What could be useful in their future career? i.e. is it better to put them on the bench and fill in for a few positions? will starting them at wing or Fullback help them be a better Center in the future. ...

What do we need? We seem to churn out 9's a lot.

what can we train? We have the skills for 9.

I have never felt that we have been very strategic as a club, particularly in training and development. This has lead to us begging for halfbacks and doing player swaps with Melbourne.

We are still the only fanbase in the NRL who are obsessed with with out football club staff and board members.
The vast majority of fans of all other NRL clubs do not know and do not care about their football club staff and board members, they focus on the players and coach.
Our fans are a bigger problem than the media, it’s very sad.
As others have previously pointed out, how about we stick to the topic of this thread being signings, suggestions and rumours ?

Our fans are too loyal….some would declare brainwashed.
They think that excellence as a player forgives all sins.
Right at this moment, we have a squad that will push for finals. The comp is not strong currently. What is holding us back is competent leadership from the coaching department and the senior playing group.
Fix that, turn your fortunes around.

They need Burton out to use his $$$ for Bula
They could have a spare 3 million to spend and they still won’t pay Bula what we are offering him.
It’s his choice, he either stays with us for a bigger contract value than he can get anywhere else, or he takes a pay cut to sign elsewhere.

Makes it a bit more difficult for us eh...than for the Bulldogs

In more ways than one

It all comes back to that board we are all obsessed with

Unsure what you mean by "excellence as a player forgives all sins" unless you are refering to Taylan May.
Taylan is a gun, yes that does not 'forgive' DV.

That said, stopping crime has a few components:
Punishment aka prison time or cutting off a theifs hand as a dissensentive to commit the crime again.
Behaviour modification.
Lifestyle modification/rehibilitation.

I am absolutely over the NRL and their double/triple standards on players. Ezra Mam can drive drunk, The dogs would have happily had JAC keep playing his last few games in 2024 while dumping him for bad behaviour.

It honestly seems to me that a club that has a badly behaving player, gets to discipline that player for 1 year, tear up their contract, then that player will be off playing for the opposition on a cheapie contract. The Club suffers, unless you are Brisbane/Melbourne/Manly/Penrith.

We have Taylan May. The NRL seemed to have no issues with Taylan playing at Penrith.
I have issues, is Taylan in a DV program? Is his behaviour to women changing? Is running him raggard against a bunch of guys getting his aggression out in a healthy way OR is making his DV behaviour worse (I do not know, but I think it may be positive).

Not saying we are off, scott free as a club.
We need to ensure Taylan sticks to a DV rehibilitation program and changes. I am happy with us building a reformed DV player, while his onfield sucked Russell Packer is a good example** of someone who did the time and came back. I am happy for us to take players who have made mistakes.

If Taylan does that DV stuff again, we need to fire him and risk loosing both May's. Now Luai + all 3 Fainu's + both May's threatened to walk if Benji was fired... Were sitting on a damn powder keg here.

Ill recognise the Cowboys for punting Barba damn quick when he misbehaved (I am sure people are aware of past sins of the Cows as well as many clubs).
**this may age poorly

You believe that if you want to, I don’t believe the board of any club comes into a players thought process during contract negotiations.
If an employer offers you an identical job for 200k extra but you are aware the company offering you the extra 200k has a bad track record at board level, is that influencing your decision ?
The TPA’s on the other hand can make a big difference and that’s where I’m led to believe Wests Tigers struggle to compete with other clubs.

We are the only club run by unqualified, unprofessional morons.
You know that. Wests Tigers have never had a bigger problem than Wests Ashfield. If you disagree, then you're (still) a major part of the problem.

You dont seem to realise the reason for this do you? The last 12 months we haven't had any fans worried or carrying on about board members just like other clubs, why? Because things have been running quietly and smoothly. Wests Tigers fans care about our board because of the constant media drama they create. A 10 year old can see that reasoning, yet you.......

Of course the board at this club comes into every managers thought processes when negotiating with WTs - they are the ones doing the negotiations - hence the clauses and the inflated contracts that come at cost to us for years of sustained failure and question marks over the commitment of the board to the football operations.
People who still think that is not factor while supporting this club, are just making it easy for our competitors to use our history as leverage when they pick off our best.

This isn’t true. Manly fans campaigned for Mestrov to get the sack all year and still want Penn to sell the club. Cowboys fans are hounding the club because they haven’t had a CEO for ages haha. You may think we’re the only ones concerned with football staff because you might only pay attention to WT discussions

Have you ever spoken with ex NRL players and asked them their thoughts regarding board members of the club or clubs they played for ?
Before you jump to conclusions, I suggest you do.
I know that ex NRL players were interviewed when an independent review of the club was conducted and said that in order for WT’s to flourish we needed true independent corporate governance. Those recommendations were wound back last month.

Things do not run 💯 smoothly at any board level or at any NRL club,
Our fans are just obsessed with it and want it to be there as an excuse if our onfield results are not good.

Wests Tigers fans are far and away the biggest whingers in the NRL.
It has to change for the better.
