Curran and Elliott
Both okay but depends
“What are they asking?”
You’re not transforming your squad with either
BINGO.

That's why I think were waiting, and it's the right call.
Elliott doesn't add much to the pack, a depth option maybe.

Curran would add a lock, he seems to be able to get the ball out. Unsure if Curran is an average lock or a decent lock, but he is not what were looking for at lock.

If were passing up Curran to find the right player at lock, this makes sense. As you say you are not transforming your squad with either.

It would be really good for the tigers to do minimal, good targetted recruitment. Identify exactly who we need and actually grab them.

Again we have stuffed to add a lock , THE one position that we don’t have a dominant player to fill , we missed out on Curran and now Elliot , do we REALLY want to play finals ur we just pissing in the fans pockets
Curran and Elliott aren't anything special.. I wouldn't want either on long term deals.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see one of the young pups step up and own the role...

The Roster we had this year should have done much better than it did.
We're poorly coached, Undersized and not as fit as we need to be.

One back rower isn't fixing that.
We were in contention for the 8 until the Galvin saga which took a toll on and off the field.

Then pole was injured (who in combination with May were in the top 3 prop combos at the time); he never came back the same... We will see a different pole this year.

So our 6 and 7 had to change and we lacked depth in the forwards.

This year we go into 26 with more depth in both areas... We also go in without a premadonna, who in hindsight, shouldn't have been given the keys to the kingdom.

THe only drama I see having an impact is if something happens with HBG... Which based on history, could happen at any stage.. otherwise I think we are going to have a super competitive year.. not top 4 yet, but we are making progress...

Samuela Fainu started to find form with Taylan may and luai.. that in itself is something to get bloody excited about...

You keep stating we were in contention for the 8 before the Galvin saga, conveniently leaving out that we were still in contention after he left. It is a weak excuse to blame that situation for our poor finish to the year.
The reason we didn’t play finals last year is because as a collective they all didn’t put in enough to make it happen.

You keep saying it so often, I don’t know weather it’s us or yourself that you’re trying to convince?
Losing Galvin make them forget how to tackle in a 64 point drubbing from the runners up?
With (a happy) Galvin they couldn’t tie their shoelaces against a hapless knights in rd 1.
There’s plenty of other indicators of this team 1-17 underperforming last year.

Blokes who’ve won 4 comps,
don’t lose a season because of a 19yr old.

Panthers went close to winning it without Cleary for most of the season!!

Blaming Galvin is a cop out
- coach should be ashamed of himself for saying it, and so should anyone else.

Comparing WTs squad three peat club, to the Penrith 4 time premiership winning club/squad ... If you are tryjng to make a point you couldn't have picked two examples that have very little in common and hence their recent results.
Your distaste for Marshall is well documented

His point is valid.
One guy leaving, who by reports wasn’t well liked at the club, should have freed the playing group up to take over and get things moving. At the very least to prove him wrong. They had no problem doing that when we played the Dogs, but didn’t apply that same commitment against their peers at the base of the ladder.
It’s an excuse and a fairly weak one at that.

It’s not an excuse but it was the biggest story of the year and kinda hard for the players to just ignore. We had to keep juggling our halves combinations. The DCE saga messed with Manly results and they’ve got a much older experienced squad. It’s just reality.

Galvin leaving wasn't the only issue they couldn't keep halves combo on the field consistently after he left. Trying to form a combination that worked was the challenge. Latu getting injured all the time, trying to decipher where to play Douehi - I think it's fair to say most people wanted to see the back of him at the end of 2024 and really didnt own the 7 spot till late in the season. Mason didn't work
Bulldogs were also impacted when they made way for Galvin and changed their combinations.
Our depth across the park is always an issue when we lose key players the problem with clubs who have to over pay to attract players does not allow for much else left in your cap for retaining good back up.
We are not anywhere near a next man up club nor should we be compared to them.

You cannot compare the QLD SOO captain to a teenager - especially when said teenager had a current NSW half, who had played in the previous 5 grand finals beside him.

I have no distaste for Benji
at all, quite the opposite in fact.
I’ll be the first one to laud all involved when I’m not watching what I watched last year.

I’ve seen muppets here blame, the halfback, the coach, the other coach,
the ceos haircut, a sponsors hat and whatever else, now it’s a 19yr old (who’s ego wasn’t kept in check) that we dragged up early from junior reps.
it’s his fault!

So what you’re saying, is I’m allowed to have any dodgy scapegoat for us being absolutely garbage - as long as it’s not different to your (ever shifting) scapegoat.

The squad we fielded last year is the best we have in years - and it was well short of where it should have been. You can make all the excuses you like.

Let’s not use Panthers, let’s use a hapless Parra - played most the year without their best player, and the other best player over a many years (their Galvin) in ressies or not playing at all.
Still finished above us.

it’s the same old every year! It really is…
A sick part of me looks forward to next years excuses
- here’s hoping we have mass injuries, a sacking or natural disaster to hold accountable.

Yes that’s exactly what I did, compare their football careers 😂 seriously

The distraction was the same. And they didn’t have to keep moving halves.

Doueihi played 3-4 games at 7, tops.
How’s he supposed to own the 7 from centre?
He played 21 games this year, it’s not like he wasn’t available.

Maybe as an organisation we just made a bad decision there, and well before there?

Maybe trying to turn an 18 yr old kid who made a heap of release requests before he even debuted into the face of the organisation is / was the problem?

I feel Elliott is nothing that special at all. A forward who does the work of a forward.

Curran isn't good enough for the bulldogs. Unless he came to us cheaply,I agree, why would he be good enough here?

Plus, clubs are punting them.
Newcastle is loosing Leo Thomson and KPP, and they want to get rid of Elliott? BAD SIGN!

The dogs however are playing games. If there were better player connections, then Curran would be an option IMHO. But I would rather get Spensor Leniu, Victor Radley, Angus or Watson from the Roosters. At least you would have a known combo with Terrell.

Look the Galvin situation happened, but having only 3 first grade forwards in Pole + Samuela + Terrell was the biggest risk of 2025.
Seriously did we miss a signing, were we counting on resigning Galvin and hence emptied the cap. No forward pack, we were lucky to come 13th., thank you Terrell May.

Twal actually stood up, he was rather ambushed. Seyfarth has a bad 2025, I still like him as a player, but he should never have been in the starting 13.

I am really excited by who we are adding but I am more excited by what you say above. Taylan, Samuela and Luai started finding some combo's that work. The more these guys play together the better they will get.

Really hoping the Bulldogs enjoy the Premadonna through their season and hope our forwards gel and our backs develop the combo's to get us across the line.

Twal is pushing 10 years as a staple of our pack and you don’t consider him a 1st grader? Good luck getting away with that.

I wouldn’t have to go back too far to see all those that thought signing Royce Hint was going to revolutionise the pack - and an upgrade on Stefano.
probably could still find some hangers on at that.
