Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Moses MBye had plenty as well. Bloke at fullback used to deliberately avoid contact
Moses Mbye was so bad.

I remember him reading a play so well and stood infront of the attacker and...

The guy just ran through Mbye.

One of our worst signings by far. I remember half the forum was loving the WT giving the Thumbs up as Mbye trains hard for the bulldogs,

The other half with me were screaming "NOOOOOOOOO"

I remember a lot of people thought he was the saviour from Lolohea who was the fullback at the time, and also horrible. Mbye was only marginally better.

Lolohea was such a weird buy too.

In fairness to MBye, he was one of the buys that always took to the field.
When Reynolds and Packer were taking up grandstand space, he at least was in the team most games.
Arrgh, horrible period

I rate Cleary as a coach, but he was a hopeless player picker.

That was a terrible period of recruitment. I mean, far from an outlier from the rest of our recruitment over the years, but that period in particular when we had a chance to reset our cap after years of being strapped was horrendous. Reynolds, Packer, Matulino, McQueen. They all got outshined by Corey Thompson.

I think Corey Thompson was the best recruit of that whole spree.

Meh, lets talk Taylan May again. I like how Benji rejects Xerri and backs the squad we have. Last year Xerri would be a walkin for our squad, but I appreciate that Benji won't be playing games like Gould and the Roosters and will give May time to heal.

That said, I would be open to saying "Xerri, you want to come here 1 year only. Let Taylan heal and then go somewhere else". Sure. But I would make it clear to Makasini, May etc that they can stay right where they are.

We cannot be a flight deck. It doesn't work for us at all.

maybe the whole thing is manufactured by Gould for tigers to be sucked in to take him to help dogs create cap space, so they can up their pursuit of Purdue and Bula. Benji has become a street wise coach and played a straight bat. Love your work Benji.
PS. dogs chasing stars when their current fullback is winning them games is just typical of their modus operandi. They have had 2 lucky wins, I hope they stink it up. Voldemort did nothing, again. I think we are in a good place. Go Benji.

Lolohea was phenomenally talented - I seem to recall him tearing up in under 20s, looking like peak Ponga or Jarryd Hayne. His first problem was that he was completely passive, so unable or unwilling to take charge that he made Luke Brooks look like Julius Caesar. I recall seeing him playing fullback in a reserves game and noticing that he was almost completely silent behind the line - just giving his defence nothing. He also got pretty big and all his pace seemed to vanish.

That said, I forgive almost all of it for the round one game against the Roosters where he converted from way out on the right touchline for the most arsed 10-8 win of all time (our winning, and indeed only, try coming from a cut out pass that falconed Chee-Kam and looped over the defender into Corey Thompson's hands.

I've just looked that game up. Our back line was Lolohea, Thompson, Marsters, Naiqama, Watene-Zelezniak. Theirs was Tedesco, Ferguson, Mitchell, Manu, Toupou. It took another couple of years for the spoons to start arriving but the kitchen warehouse was well and truly open by that stage.

Gotta disagree . Lolohea, had/has more talent in his pinky than half the stars we see running around . He was just lazy , and had a poor diet , and lacked motivation . If Cleary had remained , I think he would have got through to him . I also think 21 year old Tui Lolohea in 2026 wests tigers top 30 , would have gone hard for Benji .
Like I said it’s a shame . That guy was extremely talented . Just no work ethic.
He’s one of the true wasted talents . Like Owen Craigie . He genuinely could have been the best player in the game . He just didn’t want it .

Why would they want purdue AND bula....purdue wants the #1 jumper too
Agree on your thoughts on Tracy he was great last night

Why stop at the backline, half of the starting pack was Rochow, Pita Godinet and Eisenhuth. What a great upset win
