Lolohea was phenomenally talented - I seem to recall him tearing up in under 20s, looking like peak Ponga or Jarryd Hayne. His first problem was that he was completely passive, so unable or unwilling to take charge that he made Luke Brooks look like Julius Caesar. I recall seeing him playing fullback in a reserves game and noticing that he was almost completely silent behind the line - just giving his defence nothing. He also got pretty big and all his pace seemed to vanish.
That said, I forgive almost all of it for the round one game against the Roosters where he converted from way out on the right touchline for the most arsed 10-8 win of all time (our winning, and indeed only, try coming from a cut out pass that falconed Chee-Kam and looped over the defender into Corey Thompson's hands.
I've just looked that game up. Our back line was Lolohea, Thompson, Marsters, Naiqama, Watene-Zelezniak. Theirs was Tedesco, Ferguson, Mitchell, Manu, Toupou. It took another couple of years for the spoons to start arriving but the kitchen warehouse was well and truly open by that stage.
