LIVE GAME Round 5 versus Eels

Live Game Discussion
Are you talking about 6 agains . They’re given because of ruck dominance . Thats why the good teams get them all the time . We are soo used to being shit that we have confused luck for earnt momentum . We got zero piggy back penalties . In fact I would argue we got zero and the eels got heaps . We dominated almost 75% of all tackles either with the ball or in defence . Moses with his whinging influenced the ref . It was disgusting .
Injuries.

I get everyone being critical of Luke, he has many errors and makes mistakes in defense, however, he's a damn good runner and that is absolutely vital to every set of six. He's fast and low to the ground and very physical. Skelton also does it well, but he isn't anywhere near as fast and he also has errors in his game.

You just lose so much go forward and running threat in dropping him. Young players make mistakes. I would keep him in the side.

If may is back in not sure who I would drop between Luke and Masi. Tavana has shown enough special ability to lock down the other wing spot. But with tavana on one wing, that makes Luke's hit ups on the other side even more important because he's a much stronger runner.

Watching the highlights now.

It’s crazy they were 10-nil up in the first half, had a fresh set of six right on our try line and Pezet kicked it dead on tackle 2.

It completely changed momentum in the first half.

They lost a player to a HIA, one minute later. Then we scored our first and second try soon after

I never understand the argument that injury shouldn't come into it. Of course it should. If a player is injured by someone doing an illegal action then that has to be taken into account. Luke tackling him in the air was yet another brain-dead decision by him and it nearly cost us the game. If he waits until he lands on the ground he doesn't dislocate his ankle. Yes its unfortunate such a minor illegal action results in 10 in the bin, but it was illegal and it dislocated an ankle. Its the reason they have the rule.

To those who say the same thing happens every week and is just a penalty I say.....if I punch you in the face, im charged with assault....if I punch you in the face and you die, im charged with murder or manslaughter....the exact same action but very different outcomes.

Bottom line is, dont do a stupid play to allow the officials to make that decision.
Ok, so every hip drop, high tackle, chicken wing, ankle grab, shoulder charge and whatever, if it causes an injury, gets escalated to a sin bin? This is despite the fact that the great majority of indiscretions don't cause serious injury. Simmonson's dislocated ankle came from an awkward landing which could also come from a variety of other different circumstances such as leaping and catching a bomb. Luke's action wasn't premediated or intended to be aggressive like other examples of foul play. It was involuntary but also, for Simmonson, unlucky. A punch to the face is not a good analogy Sirro. Totally different beause it's premeditated.
Moses got accidentally slapped in the face. It could have drawn blood. Sin bin?

We will miss him. Hopefully a holiday in WA. I've been on holiday in WA since 2005. Watched the GF on a large screen at the North Beach rugby league club. Yes Sirro our game lives in WA.

In short yes. If you do a hip drop and injure a player you should be binned. Obviously there are varying issues to consider like players faking and how avoidable was the action. So common sense, like in everything, should be used.

Your Moses point doesn't apply here as the circumstances around that incident are completely different. Luke deliberately tackled him in the air, Sam's hand was basically ground level and Mitch fell into it. Not much he could do there.

My example of the punch to the face is deliberately an extreme example to highlight why injuries should come into consideration when deciding punishment for a deliberate illegal act. The example is to simply highlight a deliberate illegal act has very different outcomes depending on the damage it does.
