OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

The future, not the past, if we need JL for team harmony then we are screwed, have some faith in everything else, other then just one player, please.

I think it's so respectful to the club to call it early he could have taken the easy road said nothing till May next year and then told everyone he's leaving

This way the club has the funds and time to plan good on him for being honest

Its only for a couple of years during the footy season plenty of time to come home. Plus he be treated like a king
It’s really on fair on the other teams , that they get tax free , no other team has ever been given that support , but what really pisses me off, is ALBO is putting in six hundred million , this money could have made our electricity prices cheaper

I like your posts man but what positive is there to come from this?

We have a tonne of players off contract in 2028.

The flood gates are about to open.
Exactly , I’m gutted that he is leaving .. I thought he is here for 5 years , working with Benji , attracting players and building a culture ..2 days later he is gone and might take a few with him .. our supporters that are celebrating this are absolutely unfathomable to me

Look it this blokes career:

1) win 4 prems at panthers
2) move to a struggling wests tigers and be part of a rebuild under Marshall and gets it done (hopefully we're headed finals/top 4 in next two years)
3) move to PNG on MASSIVE money to be the face of an enormous new undertaking in rugby league...think of what it means for PNG and the people there

COME ON PEOPLE.... he's killing it....
So long term plan using us as a transit lounge.

Editing your statement
- played Robin to the Cleary’s Batman in delivering 4 premierships
- played 12 months at the tigers and failed to break there finals drought
- 2nd year sat on the bench injured while the tigers went on a run to take them to 2nd on the ladder. 50% strike rate when on field.
- took the money & ran.

So basically a career where he achieved massive success with his mates with his local team, before chasing cash wherever it was available.

Great for him.

For us:
Mate , what is your problem ? All you do is talk negative BS .. are you full of glee that our captain left us for $$ .. what sort of supporter wants to troll his own team ? What is your problem ?
frustration at another false dawn.

Not trolling reality.

I had faith for 15 years mate and we have lost tedesco, Moses and many others.

Who am I meant to have faith in?

We still dont have a full-time ceo.. we have an interim ceo.

We still dont know why the board was reinstated

Its the same shit just a different year.

Ill enjoy this year for what it is...

But long term the club is cooked.

Fair enough but the faith comes from what JL helped to instill in the club already, there is now much more to the club then just JL.

He will always be remembered for helping turn the club around.

Moving forward, I'd be more disappointed if his on field form was great but its not, and if changes, bigger chance of making the eight, so lots of things to look forward to...........

I'm okay with this...frees up $1.2m p.a for 2028-2029.

Gives Latu a clear pathway to the 6 after next year....

As long as we can sign the May brothers and Fainu brothers to long term deals with the money, its an okay outcome, bonus is to siugn Bula to 5 year deal... Tito will probably follow and thats okay too...

The beaches like Cronulla and manly, brown paper bags like the roosters and broncos and melbourne not to mention premierships, 3rd parties, business opportunities elsewhere outside of footy thanks to a board of directors with big hitters… living in NZ if you’re a kiwi and love your family and culture… etc etc… the tigers are like the dragons - we are not desirable clubs. Benji has made us desirable to a point but Richo gave us credibility and stability off the field with the premierships he’d won….
clubs like ours need as much pulling power as possible bc we can’t compete with other clubs. Losing Richo now luai is a massive hit that people don’t understand yet bc we’ve had 7 games with some success… they’ve forgotten about the 3 wooden spoons and teams that had luke brooks as the marquee player
This is exactly how I feel

I wish I was born into following a club like the Broncos.

Ill say it for the 100th time. This doesnt happen if richo is still here.

HBG are [This word has been automatically removed]ing useless, along with their possie of supporters on here. Good for nothing .
but but but, richo allowed the clauses. its only possible because richo was here. jarome chose the money. jarome said if the tigers do right by me they’ve got nothing to worry about. he has flipped on that. i would argue the tigers and jarome have delivered on turning the club around. never been this good. but still double money is double money. it’s never been an option tax free dough. richo doesn’t do magic

I made a financial protest this year to not redeem memberships after another off season board room fiasco. I believe Luai stays if Richo wasn't sacked.

Luai had an opportunity to make himself a RL immortal with us if we found premiership success. I actually thought he was a player that wanted a true legacy left behind. He can't be an immortal now in my opinion, even if PNG jag a ring or 2.

Credit to the man though, you'd be crazy to turn down that sort of money. He is definitely a family man and I have to respect him for that.

Still, a shame.
We move on.

He has been great for the club but lets be honest Benji is the glue holding it all together not Luai. Luai will be 31 when he goes to PNG and yes he is good but on the field he hasn't exactly torn sides to threads like Douehi, Bula, Api etc. Luai will be remembered for helping build the culture but as long as we have Benji we are going to keep excelling.
