Cricket Season Thread

South Africa started Day 4 with six wickets left, and a lead of just 40.
Australia looked favourites.
Almost everyone expected them to bat later in the day.
A 50-run partnership followed.
Then a 100-run partnership.
Then two terrific hundreds under pressure.
South Africa batted the whole day to set a target of 288.

Three Tests all going down to the final day?
We don’t want this series to end.
A long due, good competitive test cricket at last.
Just as well 4 day Tests are not with us.

The ebbs and flows, the comebacks, the skills under pressure, and the mental aptitude is exactly what test cricket is about.
All roads lead to a blockbuster Day 5!
288 runs. 10 wickets. One final day. Everything on the line.
It does not get much better than this!

Day 4 heroes

What a turnaround from South Africa after being 181 for 5.
They finish with 387, thanks to the Rickelton-Mulder show, leaving Australia needing 288 on the final day to clinch the series.

Still looks a very good batting wicket. Saffas made 6 for 250 with their lower order with 2 run outs. Nobody really got out from brutal balls. Having said that, our lot have the backbone of a jellyfish. Hopefully Renshaw holds up and end, Head makes a quick start and Marnus does something. 288 does look achievable.

I reckon Head has to bat for at least 2 sessions for us to run down 288 in 90 overs

I can't see Redshaw or Marnus scoring at 3 runs an over and if Green and Inglis are under pressure .....really going to come down to Harmer and Mulder's bowling

Horror start by Australia , Renshaw out first ball , Marnus last Test innings for 4
Australia 2 for 13

Hopefully in his last ever Australian innings Marnus managed to reduce his batting average yet again.I honestly hope that he just plays Shield cricket from here and the selectors leave him there.
Difficult to see a win from here but as always i live in hope.
