Roster Breakdown: 2024-2029

Estimated wages for season 2027 and beyond once we take into consideration wage increases for players we want or need to retain and these estimated wages are being conservative as I think at least a few of them are or will be slightly higher;

1, Jahream Bula 900k
2. Sunia Turuva 500k
3. Starford To’a 400k
4. Taylan May 650k
5. Heamasi Makasini 500k
6. Jarome Luai 1.25k
7. Adam Doueihi 500k
8. Terrell May 900k
9. Api Korisau 700k
10. Fonua Pole 500k
11.Kai Pearce-Paul 650k
12. Samuela Fainu 700k
13. Alex Twal 400k

14. Latu Fainu 500k
15. Alex Seyfarth 350k
16. Sione Fainu 400k
17. Royce Hunt 450k
18. Jock Madden 350k

** So for our top 18 players we will be paying 10.6 million which means even with a salary cap increase to 12 million that we would only have 1.4 million left to play the remaining 12 top 30 players.
That in itself does not work as the minimum wage allowed to pay top 30 players is at least 150k, I have a feeling it is becoming higher than that and the minimum wage for top 30 players will be 160 or 180k for 2027 and beyond.
This shows we need to cut our top 18 players wages somewhere just to be salary cap compliant.

Inconsistent players like To’a and Pole need to be replaced with young talent. If Luai leaves you need to make sure others don’t follow him. Cap management naturally gets more difficult when you’re successful.

This is a fairly pointless exercise because we simply don't know players wages. Terrell May for example - where have you plucked that number from? Royce Hunt? You could easily be half million dollars out here and there either way

Turuva on 400K
AD 400 K
Terrell May 750K
Sam F 500K
KPP 550K
Jock 150K
Alex Seyfart 400K
To'a 450K

The rest I am not Shaw about

Terrell May was previously reported more than once tj have signed a contract with us at around 660k until the end of 2027 which at the time was quite a significant upgrade in what he was previously being paid by the Roosters.
In light of a similar type of player in Kalomatangi well reported to be getting paid 1 million per season by the Dragons and Terrell himself stating on one of his podcasts that money will be a factor in his next contract, I highly doubt he is going to be generous enough to extend with us for less than 900k knowing he would highly likely get that air more if he went elsewhere.
Similarly it has been we’ll do other Samuela Fainu signed a contract with us until the end of 227 for 500k per season. That has turned out to be a good investment on our behalf and he is far becoming one of the games elite edge forwards, therefore it’s certain he will be getting offers of well above 500k for 2028 and beyond, therefore you would hope if we offer him around 700k starting with an upgrade for 2027, that he might agree to that.

You arent wrong that it will be a tricky balance

In order of priority Tigers have to resign Sam Fainu, Bula, Terell May, Taylan May, Makasini, Turuva, Latu Fainu, Fonua Pole.
We don't have many high priced players outside of Luai however, this will change.

The wisdom of letting TDS and Galvin go is making more sense as time goes by. The only contracts that don't seem value are Toa, Seyfarth but again not highly priced.

That's fine.

1.4m divided by 12 gives 116,000 I believe that is above the minimum NRL wage.
We just need to sign cheapies. Your Patrick Herberts instead of your Jack Birds, which... is also fine.
Spend your cap on those taking the field.

Hoping you added JL at 1.25m, otherwise were in for real cap trouble.

Prediction. 5 of that list won’t be here come 2028.

So who do we target for 2028 or even 2027 , who are the good players off contract in 27 and 28 that we may need to target if we loose say
Bulla , May brothers , Turuva , Luai ( gone 28 ) Sam F , we have some cash but we may need part of it to retain Macca and Sam F and the Mays , Bulla for me is as good as gone so there is another $ 800 k plus Luai 1.2 is 2 mill

So what:
Sam Fainu, Bula, Terell May, Taylan May, Makasini, Turuva, Latu Fainu, Fonua Pole.

I suspect the Fainu's will try to play together. But they are the main prospects for the future.

Come 2 years time, yes I want Terrell May in our colours. But he would have to be like JWH to keep playing at his current impact. Most forwards dip. Pole likely will have dipped.

Turuva, I like the guy. I hope we keep both him and develop Makasini...

Wayne Bennett said "you can loose anyone, as long as you have someone better coming".

No one here would object to loosing Bula if we had Mitchell Latrell or Reece Walsh* coming.

*ok some people hate walsh, I get it. Still total upgrade.
