Is The Club Respected?

The top sides know we are mentally and physically soft .....both on and off the field

If you put us under enough pressure we crack

Brisbane ....Melbourne ......Penrith ....Roosters
....even Souths under Bennett .....just pile the pressure on us until we crack
Even with their own injury and personnel issues

His assessment included an apology to WT fans being necessary.

This "apology" is wearing a little thin, for my liking...

We did it to ourselves losing possession in critical areas especially early in the game. The Panthers are clinical and took full advantage. Our players need to value possession to win games or even be competitive.

Penrith is a champion side. I'm not one to get bent out of shape about the score. A loss is a loss and Marshall was correct in his assessment.
We played one of the best teams in the modern era with not one injury. We are missing our best forward , our best half and our best second rower. A team like the tigers needs luck and we aren’t getting any . I feel some supporters are waitirn for this day to death ride Benji and the team. But we have come in leaps and bounds this year . Anyone not seeing that is delusional

Yep. Survived the initial onslaught, got to a decent kick and chase with our first possession, then literally dropped the ball from there.

Yesterday wasn’t just another bad loss. It felt like a reality check about where this club sits in the NRL. And it made me wonder if we have any respect at all? I’m talking about how the club is viewed by players, rival clubs and even its own roster. Take Luai. He arrived and was supposed to be the signing who changed the culture. He was here to be Batman. Instead, we’re halfway through his second season and what have we actually got from him? Two good games if you want to be generous, and already an announcement that he’s bailing for even more money.

Then there’s Terrell May comments this week. He openly said his loyalty isn’t to Wests Tigers, it’s to Benji Marshall. As long as Benji is there, he’s there. I suppose on one hand, you can appreciate the honesty. However, it seems his relationship with the club actually paying him is dependent on the choice of coach he gets along with. And the worst part, I don’t think he’s an isolated case amongst the playing group. I think most think that way. And the fact the club feels they need to sign their siblings to keep them happy tells me the club has no spine. To me, respected clubs create loyalty to the jersey and the organisation. Players come and go, coaches come and go, but the club remains bigger than any one person. For a while. it feels like we have relied on personal relationships rather than institutional strength. If you’re going to play finals and win premierships that way, hey, whatever works. But we are perennial failures, and this strategy of creating a brotherhood, while it may be good for team morale and creating bonds that go beyond footy. It’s not something that’s going to get you to the promised land all by itself. And it seems to be what Benji has gone all in on, because he doesn’t bring much else to the table as a first grade coach.
Bit harsh, but I agree with some of your points. Respect is earned by winning consistently and making playoffs.
What would be your solution ?
Personally, I’d completely dismiss the money angle and play all our home games at Leichhardt until we have a strong enough roster to be a consistent team ( even just to Cronulla's level). We need wins !

We did that for a while...

What was it two months..

...and here we are again
I’ve said for a while, that it’s going to take more than a month or two of good footy, or even a season where we break into the 8. We need to consistently be there or thereabouts when it comes to the 8. Look at a team the like Sharks. They are never in the bottom 4. They are always in the hunt to finish in the bottom half of the 8 at the bare minimum. We can barely play like that for one season.

Of course we are not respected we don't deserve it. And with 3/4 of the NRL media aligned with different clubs they like us just where we are, and we make it easy for them all to throw the boot in cause we have a way making every other club feel better about themselves.
Everyone with an ounce of sensibility knows sacking Richardson was the dumbest move ever - whether you were a fan or not - we were better off with him than without him. The keys have been thrown in Benji's lap and if he fails ??? well have the HBG group to depend on.

Mate you dont need to tell me every pre season i used to do the WWWLWWLLWWWLW threads...hoping for a change from the wllwlllwwllllllw reality

Look at tucks old 3 consecutive game thread...it took us nine years to get WWW...we are so far from four consecutive wins

I believe the home ground BS weve put up with for 20 years plays it part..not the sole reason but it doesnt help US.

Richo was a good operator and we sacked him for no apparent reason

The board loves being mediocre
I think Richo jumped because of a pending case against him, it all happened very quickly.
The case has been thrown out but we are now minus an experienced CEO,
And it would seem there’s no coming back !

Champion @GNR4LIFE, respect is conditional.
It sure follows consistent success (and we're just not there with our roster, which lacks depth), and then there's the ones who pick which wagon to hook up with - just 'cause they like to win.
And then there's tied-on fans who go with every up and down.
But on the downside, there's contemptuous arrogance from some and that's something that so angers me.

Follow up.
The case was brought by the NRL integrity unit, inititated by a whistleblower over a conflict of interest with his employment at WT and involvement of his company Enriched Group.

His legacy will be the the fact he got funding for both Ctown and LO. Other than that, his big coup was Luai. But now Luai is out the door.
