OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Luai should be on the bench for the rest of the contract. AD, Madden and Latu should be in the mix for starting halves. Andrews would hate to rush him like we do with other kids, give him another year in NSW cup and in 2028 ready for nrl
 
Players are human. Doesn't matter how tight a group is, if there is a player that has abandoned ship, getting paid much more than anyone else, and is playing poorly, that has a really bad effect through the team. Whispers start, looks across the room start, little shakes of the head when the said player speaks up...players stop listening, stop taking him seriously because he isnt part of the team anymore, he is a stop gap getting paid way too much. Resentment is only natural. Luai has derailed our season much worse than Galvin ever did due to his standing at the club. He will forever live in the same class as Moses and Galvin for me.

The system allows for players to commit to other clubs in advance. Players get that they don't hold that against their teammates. Last week you could argue Luai's D saved us from a loss. Good luck attracting any decent players if you want to hang a loss on an individual who knows what a quality club and side looks like. We ain't it
 
Plain and simple we got our pants pulled down and couldn't pull them back up ...the whole team...BUT Jerome did nothing absolutely sweet F all ,the stats on his game speak for themselves (look em up) .I didn't notice him till he passed the ball to an old team mate 10 out from our line .....Of all games he should have be borderline hogging the ball to get one on his old club/ team mates but he did the exact opposite.. You should be ashamed of yourself money bag's 💰.
Benji should drop him for a week... dominate the kiddies league and come back a show us your worth.

Yeah the main reason would be his poor form, as for leaving, I think everyone would be happy for him, they're professionals. They know he's still there for a season and a half, lots of work to be done, don't think that's an issue at all.

What they would be p*ssed about is is form, the talk would be, "Can you believe this guy is on 1.2m a year, FMD bro......?"

If he was playing to his so called worth, they couldnt care less that he's leaving in 18 months

But the club agreed to the clauses that sees him do what hes done.
Without those we dont.land him in the first place

I think they would still care he has decided to activate a clause effectively cutting short his stint here by 2 years. I agree if he was killing it then it wouldn't be as big an issue, but i still believe its an issue.

Not arguing that. Jerome has every right to do what he has done due to the nature of the contract. Just because he has the right to do it doesn't mean his decision was good for us and the team, and doesn't mean his team mates see it as being ok given their commitment and his form. And i also doesn't mean its the stand up thing to do...the honourable thing to do....far from it in my eyes. Thats not a captains decisions, its a mercenaries decision

I think we are a lot more frustrated on it here than the team is.

The team is fully behind his decision and most of the team re-signing proves that.

He's just not that good a player and now he's low on confidence too. He's relied on strong runner like Taylan May, Critta and Kikau outside him.

Whoever you drop after this performance becomes the scapegoat, Luai shouldn't be the scapegoat for this. You keep the same team (we have to because of injuries) and you go again.

I'd bring Latu in earlier.

Im not keeping Geyer and Murray starting. Murray will go ok off the bench, but Geyer has to go. Latu must start. Id have him at 6, but 7 or 13 will do, but he must start.

Im sacking the low impact we had on the bench for youngsters with talent who may just thrive with the opportunity. Guys like Saukuru and Broaderlow.

IMO you cant allow what happened and not do something. Sione comes in as well, and hopefully there is a chance Doueihi plays.

Fat chance of that happening, he refuses to blood Latu even when half the side is out .....
 
He's a lame duck. On a squillion to coast along seemingly without repercussion and doesn't provide effective leadership. If you're a young player in that squad, you wouldn't give two fks about what he has to say in a huddle about coming together and playing for each other when he's booking it in 18 months to fatten his wallet even more.

He's done nothing wrong in terms of adhering to his contract and abiding to the terms but that's of little comfort when he's paid seven figures to offer next to nothing. His form was an issue last year and also in the earlier rounds this year when we were playing well, prior to the likes of Api being suspended and Sam, Bula, Doueihi, Twal & Taylan all spending extended time out injured.

The ideal situation is he pisses off to Perth for a year in 2027 to be another inaugural franchise player. Won't happen but dreams are free.

It's completely torpedoed the season.

Would be the best for us … would be good for the Bears too … even he must find it more appealing than another year in the wilderness here .. wonder if there is any possibllty Vlandys would consider trying to make it happen ?

I haven’t given up - we are still a good side but we need to win games until Doueihi gets back, because Luai is an absolute self-promoting fake. It’s embarrassing the difference in remuneration between Luai and Doueihi.

We will never progress as a club if players come here after playing at successful clubs and get crucified because they can't as individuals overcome the deficiencies of a team/club that for years is known for at least one hiding every season and a run of losses.
Dumping this on Jerome Luai is as dumb as thinking that it was all Brooks fault and that we don't need IPap or Stefano because as we consistently see they all can find success at stronger better run clubs who love letting them know that they don't have to be subject to 50plus hidings. The very reason why players don't respect our club and why some won't even consider the prospect of playing for us.
