OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

When you play like that against the likes of Penrith, by all means tell the crowd and media to shut up.
When you do it against the team coming 15th, who were missing two of their best…it doesn’t hold the same impact.

Keary had a real crack last week - typical of a player who has only ever had the courage to play for clubs camped at the top of the comp with his mate Cronk.
That is a poor take.
Kearey is employed to provide expert analysis of what the halves are doing and he was deadset on the button.
If Luai had of played the way he did yesterday against Penrith and Manly, Melbourne and Sharks, we wouldn’t have copped all those floggings. He played like this against the Dogs and we also won that game.
He needs to stand up against good sides and that is what he was being called out for.

You are welcome to feel however you want about it, but your theory vs his actions all game and post game do not marry up.

If I was someone talking shit about him, then he came out and won the game for us scoring 3 tries - telling me to stfu would be completely warranted and id eat my humble pie (for this week).

Thats more than ok for you to think one game is enough leverage to tell people to shut up. If I see that effort, not even the performance, just the effort every week, then ok, he can punch me in the throat for all I care, but one game??? Um no thanks.

I hope this is a turning point for Luai. When he runs forward after stepping (instead of bouncing sideways or backwards) he is dangerous. Would love this to be the moment he starts backing himself like Benji of old. Imagine him playing at his best with Doueihi and Samuela and Twal all back.
Mate Benji was rocks & diamonds too.

Anyone expecting hat tricks and MOM performances from Luai every week is cracking jokes.

His best attributes are defense and talk.

Plenty of people offer opinions it doesn't make them all right. We had 36% possession against an almost full strength Penrith
with an inferior pack performance - no back can play off the back of that and the whole team were embarrassing. Our best performances have been off the back of the go forward from the pack, and our pack since the Cronulla game has been weakened every week due to suspension and injury. There are reasons for our poor performances that impact the whole squad - including Luai.
Yesterdays game we had an even share of possession only 2 set restarts for both teams and a 5 penalties in the game - hence an even contest and good performance from Luai
Cronk and Keary are players that never entertained the thought of playing for NRL clubs trying to get off the bottom of the ladder and for good reason - it exposes them as players just as it has done to Luai.
Interesting that Keary conveniently doesn't draw on his Catalan experience while offering his expert opinions.

Luai was player of the match and had a very strong game. However, if he doesn’t back it up next week and consistently throughout the rest of the season, it means nothing.

I'm a big Luai fan, but he’s our $1.2M marquee player, and he should be delivering performances like that every couple of weeks.. not just once a season. Hopefully this is the game that changes our season and puts us back on track for the 8.

Disagree. It means a lot.

Don’t forget we were once a laughing stock, just 2 years ago. Complete basket case.

Right now we are in the competition.

The exaggeration and hyperbole by some fans is the reason he’s so fired up in my opinion.

Just enjoy the ride while we’re still in it.

Incorrect. There’s loads of people in this forum saying they want to see that consistently.

Nobody in history has done that consistently.

Want to see that effort. No one on there right mind expects the performce to be like that. You have taken liberty with peoples comments taking them literally when common sense tells you they expect that performance every week

Maybe Luai is taking comments literally and telling those people STFU.

His effort every week is consistent, he’s consistently our best talker and defender.

Where’s all the comments about that?

His defence the past month has been terrible. It was good before that and great last night, but the past month he has been dropping off tackles. Also his defence in round 3 was deplorable.

Im not gonna debate with you mate, you had Sione playing hooker last night, so ill save my debating for guys like MTD who know footy

The critics (hate) was somewhat justified. Last night he got to shut them up with his performance. Tackled hard like the Jerome we know and ran well. Not necessarily a silky playmaking game from him but he used his body and played simple and direct. Sometimes the classy plays aren’t what’s we required.

His defence against the Bulldogs virtually saved the game - Sitelli was going to score had the line open. It was a classic committed tackle on a much bigger man who virtually got them back into the game.

We’ve had two losses in the past month by 40 plus and Luai was far from the issue.

Facts are optional around here sometimes.

Good work pointing that out mate.
