Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

What length of contract is he on at the Dogs @ROZELLE.O.G do you know?

Wouldn't be surprised if something if 'off' at the Bulldogs atm with the young fullback leaving a couple of months back to Queensland, Rauqe off to Perth Bears & a few others I've heard. Maybe their strategy of stockpiling talent with the lure of their coaching academy & whatever other promises is causing a few ripples.
I think you are right @BlackWhiteGold they have invested heavily into key positions with way way too many players that now they cannot afford because the ones they invested in haven't matured into what they hoped for and now the ones going well they have a battle in trying to keep them. They have lost Xerri, Sua, Raque and the young fullback from QLD, from their backline stock all 4 of them would get picked (and did) very very quickly.

At fullback in our team and the way it plays Bula rarely ever gets the ball to use his speed. Or atleast thats the way it seems to me.
Do any of our players ever get into open space to gauge their speed?...at least when Galvin was here he would play that short side move on the 4th when the wingers were back and we would isolate the centre and then pass back inside after the break to often score a try. We rarely do that anymore, Knights did it to us a few times. Speed is wasted if we dont have an attack that can deliver line breaks and players who regularly clock up LBA's

Newcastle can play poorly and be boring and still win as they have plenty of speed and plenty of x-factor.
When you have a slow and boring team like we do, we have to be near perfect with our ball handling and execution to be any chance.
It’s not sustainable to think we can be near perfect with our ball handling and execution every week.

Yeah, I agree we do lack that sort of player, who would ours be, Bula, Sam Fainu? Bula isn't the type of fullback that bounces around, breaks tackles and looks dangerous from anywhere, he's good at taking bombs and chiming into the backline.

We need a Kairaz, Hudson Young, D Young, Feletchers from the Knights, Tallis Duncan, Weekes, Strange. Marky Mark, other fullbacks and so on.

Hopefully Maka will turn into that sort of player.

And someone of the bench with some real X factor.

You are starting to hit the nail on the head.
Good teams need tackle busters and players capable of making line breaks without much help.
We do not have many that fall into this category.

Hey look - The same site says Gutho is 6"3' and 96kg. There is a photo of them standing next to each other and it looks like he has 2 inches and 10kg on Sloan. Seems right to me.
Also has blokes like Brooks at 6ft..
remember Joel Reddy making fun of the NRL stats back in the day - saying something like, they just make that shit up.

As you have alluded to, there is supposedly no cap space left to sign anyone of much value as we are already paying this current group top dollar.
I have no idea how with our current group of players that our red zone attack or attack in general gets much better ?
Averillo will help, but he can’t do it on his own.
Our only plan seems to be to try and charge downfield through the middle and then put a bomb up as a Hail Mary for us to get a decent result 1 in every 10 if we are lucky.
Getting two backrowers back from injury and the addition of Jake Averillo will help, but it’s not going to turn us into a premiership winning team. We would still need a lot of things to go our way to make the eight.

I think nothing much will change for a year or two and than hopefully Andrew’s Latu and a couple of others might make it on the NRL stage. One thing for sure , we are paying massive overs to recruit players if we have cap problems with the current roster

Topou is whatever we are heavily focused on a dude that will play very occasionally. In That role he offers something different to our other 8 centres and wingers that are all under 6ft

Can we remain focused on the point I made rather than introducing a totally different point that I didn't make?

If you think Tyrell Sloan is 94kg and over 6,1 like Vicious, then make your argument because that's the discussion.

No harm intended.
You're countering with Internet Stats I pointed out aren't (and have never been) overly reliable.
Now I've cleared that up for you, I hope you can enjoy the rest of your night.
