Alex Eala defeats Aussie Maya Joint, who beat her in a heartbreaking 3-setter in Eastbourne last year.
3 sets again this time but what a 3rd set Alex played 6-0!
Maya came out swinging and Alex seemingly couldn’t find answers but once she broke through Maya’s armor, Alex ball-striking was pure confidence.

Demon's game plan against the top players is wrong imo he needs to play more aggressively

He's not going to improve until his serve does, it's rubbish, all the top players use it as a weapon or better control.

His serve has improved but he struggles with his first serve when under the pump

That's my main concern, it's never been reliable, pity Nicks serve couldn't be morphed to demons he would have won a slam by now.

He's achieved more then most other players, really his game is based on his speed and tenacity. Done well just to be in the top 10.

I think all these good runs but not advancing past the QF stage in slams is affecting him mentally. He's getting married and I think he's taking time away from the game.
