Hired a bunch of nobodies for assistant coaches

Doesn’t the actual coach make the final decision, particularly when the same thing keeps going wrong?

Given that the club is losing Luai & I think we lack that edge in leadership, but have several talented players on the roster- I think Josh Papali'i & Tyson Frizell are the right types to add to the squad.

Add them to May, Twal, Seyfarth, Pole, Sione Fainu, Bunty...and as a bridge to Duncombe & Topou-Moors etc- it just means we don't have that drop off like we do now.

What we have seen of Heyward & Lanyon suggest they could back up Api.

Then add Blore to the mix.

Other than Blore, I don't think they break the finances too badly. Add depth & experience & don't block the path of juniors.

In the backs, I'd still look at bring Talau back for one of the bottom Top 30 spots.

If Papali'i can give us 20 minutes a game to rest May, if Frizell can give Twal a rest or cover wider if needed, for 20 minutes- you can rotate Sione & Pole over & over to keep their impact fresh. Blore would be a luxury. Maybe Roberts plays that role instead from within.

Final decision for what? Assistant coaches? Yes. If Shaun is serious he needs to make the changes but he also hired Pat Richards

Our structures are all kinds of wrong. Our edges just collapse with no real pressure. It’s like watching the same performance in every grade and it’s why we can’t even bring anyone up to first grade.

If Benji is seeing an issue with our defensive structure, you would assume he would step in and get it right.
Assistants are just that, there to assist, not make a final decision particularly when something is not working.

When you lose your gun 2nd rowers then any of your top centres it opens up the peppering from the opposition.

They are salivating all week to attack the weak links in the chain.

Watching the Rabbitohs v Knights.
Souths are fielding the worst halves combination in the NRL, but have had no trouble scoring 4 tries in the 1st half with their fullback heavily involved with 3 try assists and their edge back row and centres always looking dangerous with strong ball running, breaking tackles and scoring tries.
It’s not rocket science what positions are crucial to be scoring tries in the red zone.
I know we have a few of our edge back rowers and strike centre out injured, but so do Souths and they were smart enough to come into the season with good depth cover in these crucial positions.

Once we have our full forward pack back, I think we are ok (KPP, Api, a fully fit Samuela and Twally, Royce for impact). Where I would be looking is for a top tier 13. I think Twally does well in the middle with his go forward and excellent in defence but he doesn’t seem to play ball play at the line naturally probably lacks the speed required for a top tier 13.
I’d move Twal as a starting prop and go into the market to find a 13 who can play a bit like Cam Murray.

We’re short a prop - put Twal there and find a good lock option to give us something else than tackling from 13 also.

He hasn’t played in 8 years .. start him in A Grade for the Leichhardt Wanderers..

A reserves even if he aint at that level

Start him off as a trainer. Knows how to handle stabbing pain.

Def quality , both Sam F and KPP were going very well in attack and defence , loosing both plus others like API defence fell apart , then take out a centre , fullback , lock , you gonna have issues

We’ve got the perfect one signed on a reserve grade contract who has already proved he has the goods…. If only he can finally motivate himself.
